The Basics

Day tours from Antalya often combine a visit to Aspendos with one of the region’s other ancient cities, such as nearby Perge or Side; a cruise along the Manavgat River; or a visit to the Manavgat or Kursunlu waterfall. The most atmospheric way to visit Aspendos is to attend a performance at the theater (only possible during the summer), while tickets to the popular Fire of Anatolia shows, held at the purpose-built Gloria Aspendos Arena nearby, often include a stop at the original theater along the way.

Astonishing and Vast
Great guide answered all our questions, had a commanding knowledge of the sites. We went in January so almost no other tourists. The sites were astonishing and vast. Side, although, will be a tourist town if it’s ever finished, is covered in ruins, some restored as well. Drive from Antalya was quick and lunch was perfect. Make sure your shoes are comfy.

Ibrahim was a knowledgeable and friendly guide, who facilitated a wonderful journey through the ancient cities of Perge, Side and Aspendos. It was an awe-inspiring day - we are so glad we chose this tour.

Ask for Mustafa and Ohmer!

Private Tour Perge,Aspendos Waterfall ...
We had Mustafa and Ohmer as our guided driver. These two are awesome! we had a great time with them and the tour was amazing. Mustafa did a little extra for us as he is proud of his home town and the company was great to work with as I inadvertently booked the wrong day and wanted to start the tour an hour later than originally planned.

Excellent trip. Fully worthwhile. We did everything as stated in the description. Comfortable 12 seater minibus. Sufficient time to spend at each location.

This is a very good tour to do from Antalya taking in Side, Perge, Aspendos and a waterfall. Our guide Mustafa was excellent in that he explained all architectural sites that we visited very well. The only slight disappointment was the quality of the lunch but other than that the tour was amazing and it's something I'd recommend others to do.

Temple of Apollo, Aspendos and Manavgat Waterfalls Day Tour from Alanya
The bus pick up was way to long. Disorganized and unfriendly. This needs to be shortened before I would recommend to friends.

We had a another long but lovely tour with our guide Genghis, who escorted us thorough all the sights and then given free time to explore the attractions. The tour was conducted with historical explanations as well as a sense of humour.

The tour guide is nice gentlemen who can speak good English and is knowledgeable, able to answer all of our questions. It is just that the time alloted to Side is a bit rushed. Overall it was good.

There was a big group and hotel pick up was provided! Definitely help that somebody else drove us to this location however the tour was consumed by lots of talking and not as much exploring. For lunch they took us to a fast food joint. We also had to pay extra to enter one of the exhibits. We had to buy our own water bottles at the lunch spot. Some of the excursions took us to places where it was basically a sales pitch the whole time... So let's just say you're paying someone to drive you to these places and meet nice people on the tour bus. I would say it's the kind of thing that's hard to do solo so this is a good option for simply a ride, but too expensive for what was included.

Tour was great. Lots of great history. Perge was amazing because you can see the layout of how the cities looked. Each site was really magical. The waterfall was beautiful and peaceful. Aspendos theater was magnificent and our guide told us about the layout and a story about the man who built it. We got some free time, about 15/20 mins to explore on our own. The aquaducts were grandiose and amazing architecture to see. Side was really cool to see a modern city atop the ancient one. They are excavating more and the have view platforms under your feet. Apollo's temple was looking over the water with athena's just to the right. Great tour if you love ancient history. Our guide was knowledgeable and kind. He answered a lot of my questions before I even had to ask. He also informed us of life today in Turkey which was really helpful. Being able to see so many sites in a day and getting in depth information was also really nice rather than just super basic information. The pickup and drop off were on time and the ride was really nice, comfortable and clean. There is some walking involved, which I loved. I recommend comfortable shoes and water. I highly recommend this tour.

What a brilliant trip! Our guide was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and all around wonderful. If you want to see the historical side of Turkey I would 100% recommend taking this excursion. We thought it was superb value for money, absolutely couldn’t fault it.

Lovely tour guide and beautiful historic city. Only one thing was really good is the weather, too hot in Antalya.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • There is an admission fee to visit Aspendos Theater.

  • Wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking over uneven ground, especially if you want to explore the surrounding ruins.

  • Some parts of the archaeological site are wheelchair-accessible, but steps and uneven ground mean that it’s not possible to fully explore the theater or the ruins.

When to Get There

The Aspendos ruins and theater are open all year round, but it can get busy in the summer months, when an early start is the best way to dodge the crowds and avoid the midday heat. For a rare opportunity to attend a concert in the original theater, visit Aspendos during the annual International Opera and Ballet Festival, held each June.

Ancient Aspendos

The ruins of ancient Aspendos lie dotted around the theater and include a hilltop acropolis, where you can see the remains of the agora, nymphaeum, and basilica. The high vantage point also offers an expansive view of the city’s 9-mile-long (14.5-kilometer-long) aqueduct, as well as the Roman-era Eurymedon Bridge, which was rebuilt during medieval times.
