VGP Snow Kingdom
The Basics
Although local legend has it that it once snowed in Chennai, hundreds of years ago, many Chennai residents have never seen snow, or even experienced freezing temperatures. VGP Snow Kingdom makes snowfall in the city possible, with a snow area featuring all sorts of alpine attractions. There’s even a dance floor with a DJ for those who want to dance while they escape the heat of the city.
Things to Know Before You Go
VGP Snow Kingdom is great for families of all ages, and the park recommends it for kids aged 2 and up.
There's a coffee shop with snacks and an ice-cream counter in the park.
Loaner snow gear (including shoes and socks) is provided free of charge, with baby clothing available for a small fee.
Sessions start every hour and include 15 minutes of acclimation and 45 minutes in the snow area.
How to Get There
VGP Snow Kingdom is situated in the southern part of Chennai, right next to its sister theme park, VGP Universal Kingdom. While bus numbers 19H, 109, and 599 stop near the entrance of the park, it’s not well-connected by rail. The easiest way to get here is by taxi or as part of an organized tour; the journey takes about half an hour.

When to Get There
VGP Snow Kingdom is open from midmorning until evening, 365 days a year. The last entry of the day is at 7pm, but it’s a good idea to arrive a little earlier just in case. As the park is indoors, it’s a year-round attraction and makes for a good rainy-day activity during the rainier months (June through October).
Other Attractions at VGP Snow Kingdom
While snow is the big draw at this theme park, there are also a few other attractions to keep people busy while they wait to enter the snow area. Activities include a 3D-art museum (which costs extra), a temporary-tattoo parlor, virtual reality cricket, and a silicon museum featuring realistic renditions of celebrities.
