The Basics

The archaeological sites at Troy include remains from at least nine different periods of settlement and were found in many layers of excavation. Get a sense of the area’s rich history by walking around the remains of city walls, temples, theaters, bathhouses, and homes. You can also climb inside a replica of the infamous Trojan horse (which stands near the entrance) to enjoy elevated views of the ruins.

To fully understand the importance of the site’s archeological finds, read up on Troy before your trip, or to visit with an expert guide. You can join a day tour from Istanbul or opt for a multi-day tour, which may also include nearby attractions like Canakkale, the WWI battlefields of Gallipoli, Pergamum, or Ephesus.

6 Days Turkey Tour: Cappadocia, Pamukkale, Ephesus, Gallipoli, Troy, Pergamon
What an incredible experience. From start to finish everything i needed was taken care off. Airport and hotel transfer, even when my flight was delayed, went smoothly. The customer service was fantastic and they arranged for me to get my covid test to get back to the us. On top of that the sites were incredible and my guides at each location were so knowledgeable and went out of their way to make the trip special

5-Day Aegean Tour from Istanbul: Gallipoli, Troy, Pergamum, Ephesus, Kusadasi, Pamukkale and Hierapolis
What a wonderful tour. Our guide Khan was so passionate and knowledgeable about the history of Turkey and it made the tour really meaningful. He had some wonderful stories and made all feel very comfortable. Our hotels were well appointed and clean and we had time to explore on our own. Country Turkey was beautiful and the people so accommodating and friendly. Highlights were Gallipoli and the Travertine Terraces.

Amazing tour! Charman our guide was fantastic. 5 stars for knowledge. The iris hotel in Cannukale was ok. The bed was really hard and uncomfortable but room was clean. The other hotels were very good. Overall a very good experience and I would highly recommend this tour to everyone.

2-Day Small-Group Troy, Gallipoli and ANZAC Battlefield Tour from Istanbul
Tour was great! Pick up was a little early but we were able to avoid the traffic out of Istanbul and did not feel rushed. I did not know the hotel I would be staying at before hand but was very good, good choice of food and clean facilities. I was very fortunate as there was only myself and another couple so felt almost like a private tour. Would highly recommend to anyone who has a few days and would like to see a bit more of Turkey, not just Istanbul.

2 days 1 night Gallipoli and Troy Tour from / to Istanbul
Excellently organized. Everything including the pick up from hotels to the tours were on exactly on time. The Gallipoli tour lasted about 3 1/2 hours and Troy Archaeological Site took about 2 1/2 hours. Lunch at restaurant in Eceabat was included on both days and was adequate. Hotel accommodation provided in Canakkale was also suitable with convenient location next to the ferryboat landing,

Do the two day tour!

2-Day Troy and Gallipoli Tour from Istanbul
Both days had very knowledgeable and experienced guides. Highly recommend you do the two day tour; many of my fellow group members signed up for only one day and lamented the 4.5 hour drive from Istanbul, the 4 hour tour (Gallipoli or Troy) then 4.5 hours back to Istanbul on the bus. Go for the two day tour and see both! Plan for windy weather in Troy (on average 280 days per year).

2-Day Troy and Gallipoli Tour from Istanbul
Great trip with Noursedah (spelling?) and driver Mustapha. We had a smooth trip to Gallipoli and learnt a lot while there. The maritime museum in Canakkale was very interesting and well laid out. This morning we explored Troy, which was amazing. Excellent meals, guide and driver.

One Day Troy Tour From Istanbul - Lunch Included
The tour spends most of the time on the road. That wasn’t very clear for me when I booked. But the drivers and guides were very thoughtful, and despite of the heavy rain, I really enjoyed the day

7-Day Turkey Classics Tour from Istanbul: Gallipoli, Troy, Ephesus, Pamukkale, Cappadocia and Ankara
Very impressed so far. My trip is not finished yet, but it's the best way to discover Turkey. Hotels are great, food is delicious, guide very knowledgeable and helpful. Bus comfortable. Both guide and driver are making the drive so easy, stops every couple of hours. I recommend the package to anyone who wants to come to Turkey. best decision ever!!

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Bring a hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water; there’s very little shade at the site.

  • Wear sturdy, comfortable shoes; the path can be rocky and slippery at points.

  • Roman gladiator costumes and a chariot are available for visitors who feel like dressing up and having photos taken.

  • Day trips from Istanbul can last upwards of 14 hours.

The Troy Museum

The Troy Museum opened in 2018 and is located at the entrance to the Troy archaeological site. The striking red building houses over 2,000 ancient artifacts that have been excavated from the site, including a sarcophagus, statues, jewelry, tools, and pottery. Descriptive panels, dioramas, and interactive displays help bring the story of Troy to life. Visitors can also enjoy views of the ruins from the building’s rooftop terrace.
