During this food-focused experience, you'll get to shop for ingredients ina local market, prepare a traditional Syrian Christian "Sadhya" meal usually reserved for banquets, and then feast on your creation!

Meet your local host Usha for a hands-on cooking experience in her kitchen - a charming mix of old world and modern equipment. The dishes you will learn to cook together will depend on what is available that day from Usha's garden and the market. Usha's yard has fruit trees like bananas and papayas and a host of tropical vegetables. The cooking part of the experience will last for 30-45 minutes and you will be preparing a few local dishes, such as sambar (tentil based vegetable stew), aviyal (mixed vegetables) or olan (curry made with white pumpkin, cow peas and coconut milk).  Through this experience Usha would like to share more about the Nair community of Kerala, their rituals, customs, festivals and cuisine - so come join her!

This tour offers a cooking class at a local home in Cochin. Learn about the key ingredients used in preparing a South Indian meal that is typical of the state of Kerala. The perfect day at a boutique hideaway on the banks of the backwaters. Enjoy a hands on cooking class in the open with the local ladies of the island who will share their treasured recipes with you. Learn about the balance of spices and the all important flavours that go into making the perfect South Indian curry. Do let us know in advance if you have any dietary requirements. A guided village walk will let you meet and greet the locals where you will learn more about the history of the island, it's culture and the benefits of island life! Later in the afternoon cruise blissfully by boat through the backwaters of the island. Finish the day with a chai and your favourite paperback and enjoy the peace and quiet. With the help of the local host you will discover how to use different spices, try new different flavors of south Indian food, study how to cook them even if you are in your country. And, of course, yummy south Indian thali - lunch on banana leaf will be served for you there after the class.

With team of host and local community, we look forward to providing essence of Munnar in a day with different activities. Day starts with pickup by 4XD jeep to take you to retreat for morning yoga with Astanga and Hatha practices. After yoga, it is time for refreshment with sattvik and local cuisine breakfast before heading for spice plantation hike to riverside. After hike, it is time to take an Ayurvedic treatment of Foot/ Head massage for a nice relaxation. Also additional treatments can be avail with added cost. Munnar essence cannot be fulfilled without a walk along tea covered hills leading to waterfall. Coming back to retreat, it is time to chat with local host while taking tea tasting session or cooking session to have close understanding of local community and their livelihood. A cuppa of local brewed tea will be the best way to collect the memories of Munnar's tea gardens before the jeep drops you to main road.
