The Basics

Auschwitz-Birkenau is comprised of Auschwitz I—the site of a visitor center, museum exhibitions, artifacts, and multimedia displays—and Birkenau (or Auschwitz II), left almost exactly as it was when the Nazis abandoned it at the end of the war, complete with gas chamber ruins. Group and private tours with round-trip transportation from Krakow Old Town typically cover both sites and are available in several languages. A visit to Auschwitz can also be combined with the nearby Wieliczka Salt Mine.

Excellent
A trip to Auschwitz was a very well organised tour. Starting from the driver, the minibus and finishing with the support Viator gave us. I did not even get to the guide, he was excellent! A real professional with lots of knowledge to share and discuss, very attentive and encouraging discussions with the participants. Therefore, special thanks to him once again! On the other hand the only thing we were missing is a bit longer breaks to grab a coffee or use a bathroom. Other than that everything was splendid! Greetings from Lithuania!

Auschwitz & Birkenau: Live-Guided tour with transportation and hotel pickup
Although they dont know which tour guide you're gonna get, ours was a very passionate respectful local woman with more than 20 years of experience. She was definitely the best part of the tour. Also our driver Marcel was really nice and the transportation service was excellent. The vehicle was super clean and everything ran on time.

Auschwitz & Birkenau: Live-Guided tour with transportation and hotel pickup
Our guide told us a lot of interesting and shocking backstories and facts. She knew a lot about the history and I highly suggest to book a trip. Unfortunately our hotel was out of the pick up zone so we had to pay for a taxi to come to a location where we were picked up.

Auschwitz-Birkenau and Wieliczka Salt Mine guided ONE DAY TOUR
This tour was great! Even though it was a full day (prepare for lots of walking!), it was great to see both parts of Auschwitz and the salt mine. If you have a short amount of time and want to see both these things this is a great tour to go on.

From Kraków: Auschwitz-Birkenau Guided Tour with professional English Guide
We visited Auchwitz and Berkanau, such a memorable trip. Our driver was very courteous and efficient getting us there on time. Tip- bring a packed lunch as only quick break inbetween the 2 sites. We found both camps so moving & interesting, would highly recommend this tour when visiting Kraków.

Auschwitz & Birkenau: Live-Guided tour with transportation and hotel pickup
We had a very informative, compassionate guide who took her time explaining and asking us to use our imaginations as to what it must have been like for all these people and the treatment of them.

Day Trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau and Wieliczka Salt Mine from Krakow including Lunch
It was definitely worth it to book Auschwitz and Salt Mine at the same day . We were picked up right in time and it was such a comfortable visit. I definitely recommend to other visitors.

Auschwitz-Birkenau and Wieliczka Salt Mine guided ONE DAY TOUR
Great trip and good guides. Worth the money. My only complaint is that there was no allotted time for lunch and the guide did not let us know that. If I knew, I would have brought some food to eat during the break. We finally had a chance to eat at 15h. This would have difficult if I had my children with me. I recommend bringing snacks/ sandwiches to eat at the break at 13h.

Auschwitz-Birkenau Best Value Shared Tour
Good, informative and well organized tour of something everyone should see. Removing a star because I never got the lunch / biscuits / water advertised in this ad and no one mentioned it, so prepare to bring your own food (there is food there but tourist prices).

  • An official visitor’s center can be found at the entrance to Auschwitz I.

  • Although you can arrive independently, guided Auschwitz tours can allow for better understanding, plus insight from a tour guide.

  • Cell phones are not allowed in the permanent exhibition buildings and photos are not permitted in Room 5 of Block 4 or the cellars of Block 11.

  • The museum discourages visits from children under the age of 14.

  • While wheelchairs are available at the visitor center, strollers are only permitted outside of the blocks and other structures in Auschwitz I.
