Chopin Concert Hall (Chopin Gallery)

świętego Jana 4, Kraków, Poland

The Basics

On arrival, ticket holders are typically welcomed with a glass of wine and seated inside an intimate performance hall decorated with portraits of Chopin and other composers. Chopin’s celebrated nocturnes, mazurkas, and waltzes are performed by some of Poland’s leading contemporary pianists; resident musicians include Witold Wilczek, Anna Boczar, and Paweł Kubica. 1-hour performances leave plenty of time for dinner at a restaurant in Krakow’s main Market Square (Rynek Główny).

What a wonderful evening! The Gallery is very near the historic square so we had an early dinner then walked over. The host was very nice. Our pianist, a student at the conservatory, was fantastic! The music was brilliant and wonderfully performed. Treat yourself to a fantastic evening in Krakow and buy tickets to a concert!

Chopin Piano Concert at Chopin Gallery with a Glass of Wine
Excellent concert from a world class pianist preforming Chopin. The venue was central and easy to find and was a good setting for the event. A short talk from the host at the beginning introduced the concert and explained a little of Chopins life and work. Brilliant performance!

Great pianist and nice cosy place. Don’t forget to clap and request a « bis » once she leaves after the last piece ... ours wasn’t insisting enough and she ended up not coming back!😊

Beautiful experience, well organized. Pawel Kubica clearly made justice to Chopin's pieces . Grateful to the organizers for arranging something so pleasing.

Chopin Piano Concert at Chopin Gallery with a Glass of Wine
My family thoroughly enjoyed this piano concert at the Chopin Gallery. It was a wonderful setting although the room got a little warm as the concert progressed. Dress in light clothing if you go in the warmer months. Our pianist was Witold Wilczek. He was superb. This was a great way to experience some of the history and culture of Poland.

Piano = Chopin = Poland

Chopin Piano Concert at Chopin Gallery with a Glass of Wine
For the price an excellent way to gain a flavour of Chopin. There are 4 pianists take different nights to perform an hour or so of his compositions. Each chooses their own play list. On Saturday we had a young man who was a virtuoso with many years concert and recital experience. The room is 2 storeys up in a well-hidden old building, just a few steps from the main square - we had scoped it out earlier in the day and had walked past the doorway twice before we spotted the sign. Capacity probably around 100; about 60 in the audience including a large party of students. Some Mazurkas, Nocturnes and Ballades entertained us - have to confess I only recognised one or two. The lack of clapping at the end of each piece took us by surprise and we noticed others were also wondering - but it seems to be the convention not to clap until the end. More cultured audiences may know this! It was a fun way to spend an hour and a half - the fizzy wine was palatable, if a little sweet.
