Rua Barbosa do Bocage, Sintra

The Basics

Visitors who experience Sintra on a guided tour from Lisbon benefit from a tour guide’s insight and included transportation. Popular attractions within this UNESCO World Heritage Site include the Museum of Modern Art, Monserrate Palace (Palacio de Monserrate), Pena National Palace, Castle of the Moors, and the beautiful Gothic architecture of the Quinta da Regaleira. While it’s possible to spend an entire day (or week) in this captivating town, travelers with limited time can also combine a visit to Sintra with stops at other nearby points of interest, such as Praia Grande, Cascais, Guincho Beach, or the wineries of Colares.

Sintra Private Tour
Miguel was a fantastic tour guide from beginning to end. Our private tour in his clean comfortable new van took us all over Sintra. We were able to spend as much or as little time as we wanted at each historical site. Miguel was knowledgeable about the history, but also the best places to visit and the best times to see each site. We were very pleased with the flexibility and the value for the price. Highly recommend.

Lisbon and Sintra Private Tour
We had a wonderful time with Carlos. From our tour of the Pena Palace to lunch in Sintra and driving all over Lisbon to see the different neighborhoods and attractions. We learned a lot about the history of Lisbon and Portugal. It was a perfect introduction to the city.
Good overview of the villages not in-depth

Lisbon Super Saver: 2-Day Sintra, Cascais, Fatima, Nazare and Obidos Small-Group Day Trips
Got into the castle as Sintra before the masses of tourists- as we left, there were hundreds in line for entrance to the property and a long line for the castle tour. Not enough time in the village of Sintra- this tour could easily be only Sintra but drove out to the ocean and west of Lisbon to Cascias which was good for a gelato only- Obidos, Fatima were ok- a lot of driving. Saw Fatima 1 day before an anniversary so there were lots of pilgrims and tourists.
Nice day trip outside of Lisbon!

Sintra, Cascais and Pena Palace Guided Tour from Lisbon
The itinerary is nicely paced, starting with a historical tour in Sintra to the Pena Palace, followed by a picturesque trip to the Cabo de Roca, and finally getting recharged at the beachside town Cascais. Our guide (Vitor) was very energetic and knowledgeable about Portuguese history and culture, and most importantly a skilled driver, which is a big plus for the narrow and steep roads in and out of Sintra!

Small group tour to Sintra, Pena Palace, Regaleira, Cabo da Roca and Cascais
Our tour guide, David, was very informative and friendly. The best part was exploring the Pena Palace and imagining how the King of Portugal have enjoyed the palace with his family from ages ago. Will definitely do it again. Touring the historic Sintra center was amazing too.
Highly recommend!

This was a lovely tour that we went on! Luis was fun, knowledgeable and very patient as we asked a lot of questions - he also got us everywhere on time, explained what everything was & gave us some amazing recommendations for places to eat in Cascais & in Sintra! Highly recommend for a private historical experience!

Sintra Small-Group Tour from Lisbon with Cabo da Roca and Cascais
I was doing a tour of Sintra with Rick. He got on well with the tour group. He facilitated a very good tour. We were lucky to have a clear day in the morning and we were lucky to see pena palace in the distance. In terms of eating, if you listen to the guide, you will have a very good Portuguese style meal. I also got to taste some Portuguese pastries from Sintra thanks to the advice from the guide. I would advise anyone wanting to see Sintra to go on this tour.

Sintra, Regaleira and Pena Palace, tickets included, from Lisbon
An excellent tour provided by our guide from start to finish and would recommend that anyone staying in Lisbon for a couple of days, take this tour to Sintra as it is definitely a must see. It is a picture perfect destination with lots to see and do for a couple of hours and plenty of places to stop for a glass of wine and a bite to eat.

When to Get There

For the best experience and minimal crowds, plan to visit early in the day, midweek, and outside of the summer high season. Classical music lovers gather in late spring and early summer, when the Sintra Festival takes place and concerts are hosted all over town.
