Cankar Centre (Cankarjev Dom) Tours and Activities

With its slick, modern exterior standing in stark contrast to the capital’s dreamy Art Nouveau architecture, the Cankar Centre (Cankarjev Dom) immediately sets itself apart as a symbol of contemporary Ljubljana. Designed by architect Edvard Ravnikar in 1980, the vast complex is Slovenia’s largest cultural center, expanding 36,000 square meters over Trg Revolucije Square and hosting hundreds of annual events.
The Cankar Center’s cultural program includes a varied roster of opera and ballet productions, dance, classical music, theater and puppetry, from a variety of Slovene and international performers. A number of annual festivals are also held in the Canker Centre, including the Ljubljana International Film Festival and the Ljubljana Jazz Festival, and the center hosts a small art and photography gallery, showcasing a range of local artists.
