The Basics

Santa Maria’s wide strip of golden sand and horseshoe-shaped bay tucked between two bluffs make it one of the nicest beaches in Los Cabos.

Most visitors arrive as part of a snorkeling cruise that includes hotel or port pickup and drop-off. There’s also a popular snorkel and kayak combo tour to consider. Excursions typically include free time to enjoy the beach. If you want to spend more time soaking up the Baja tranquility, plan to visit independently.

Go with High Tide Sea Expeditions they are the Best!!
This was one of the best experiences we had while in Cabo. Maury from High Tide Sea Expeditions was awesome! He speaks fluent English and has a ton of experience and knowledge about the area. He knew the best spots for snorkeling to see the most marine life and he takes pictures for you! If I could give 6 stars I would.

Los Cabos Snorkeling Tour to Chileno Bay and Santa Maria Cove
We were unable to do this tour because the water conditions were too rough and the visibility was poor quality, but the guides Luis and David tried so hard to find out if there was a better option and then to find a replacement activity for us that we really appreciated the customer service.

Edgar did a fantastic job ensuring we felt comfortable, young and old alike, and had an amazing experience. The tropical fish at Chileno Beach are not to be missed! We are glad we chose this excursion.

Los Cabos Snorkeling Tour to Chileno Bay and Santa Maria Cove
We had a great time with Luis. He was alot of fun. He showed us the best places to see fish. This was first day they opened the beaches for water activities since the storm. The water was a little murky & the waves were strong since the hurricane just came through, so timing wasn’t great for snorkeling. We saw lots of fish though and some manta rays. It was also nice to just be at a swimmable beach!

Los Cabos Snorkeling Tour to Chileno Bay and Santa Maria Cove
Due to Covid, it turned into a private tour. Just me and the tour guide. The water at the 1st spot was a little murky but it was due to a recent storm. Maury took great care of me and allowed me to take my time and get comfortable in the water. He even took me to the pharmacy to pick up some needed items. Great tour overall.

Los Cabos Snorkeling Tour to Chileno Bay and Santa Maria Cove
Good experience. Tour guide was very informative. Due to covid, we were the only ones on this tour. Our guide was very involved in our experience but also gave us alone time. It was the perfect blend. Both beaches were beautiful. Santa Maria was more secluded.. Chileno was more crowded but visibility was better.

Los Cabos Snorkeling Tour to Chileno Bay and Santa Maria Cove
Marco picked us up at our hotel. Because the conditions of the water had changed, they offered us an alternative from the original destinations and gave us the option to kayak to Pelican Rock where the water was more clear. We took them up on it and had a great time! We took a double kayak out to the cove and saw some cool fish. They were knowledgeable and were great to educate us every step of the way. They took pictures of us on the beach before returning. I appreciated their efforts to make our experience the best possible and for being honest and upfront with us. I would use them again (High Tides) through Viator.

Great crew, nice boat. We saw whales while headed to Santa Maria Bay and schools off tropical snorkeling.

Snorkeling at Santa Maria Cove

Santa Maria’s horseshoe-shaped bay is a popular destination for snorkeling cruises that ply the Los Cabos coast. Santa Maria Cove is one of the best spots to snorkel and see colorful coral formations, troves of tropical fish, and maybe sea turtles or manta rays. Its calm, shallow waters and ease of snorkeling from shore make it an ideal snorkeling spot for families.
