The Basics

The Last Supper is incredibly popular, and it can be very difficult to get access. In order to preserve the mural, a maximum of 30 visitors are allowed to view the painting at any one time, and only for 15 minutes.

Fortunately, tours can help you lock in those high-demand tickets and customize your experience—spend a day visiting Milan's must-see sites with an art historian guide; opt for an expedited tour with skip-the-line The Last Supper access; or combine The Last Supper with stops at the Milan Duomo, the La Scala Opera House, and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.

Milan Half-Day Sightseeing Tour with da Vinci's 'The Last Supper'
We were very pleased with the walk, our guide, David, and the sites. Excellent! Just needed a little bit more information about what to expect: how much walking, toilet break etc. it all worked out wonderfully but we didn’t know ahead about details.

Milan Half-Day Sightseeing Tour with da Vinci's 'The Last Supper'
Duomo fantastic detail by Max, our guide and took loads of questions and points of view. The Last Supper was very moving. Brilliant background by Max. I would have given tour five stars except Scala was closed, even though Viator advertised it as part of tour. Max five stars: tour four stars.

Bus to 'The Last Supper' was clean, excellent guide, got great pictures of the painting. Also saw the Domo - amazing! Somewhat late because of rain and big line/group to wait on.

Charles, our guide, was good and thorough. He has a sense of humor and wickedly irreverent in a nice way. We highly recommend him.

Best of Milan Experience Including Da Vinci's 'The Last Supper' or Vineyard and Milan Duomo Tour
Our guide did a great job of showing us the highlights of Milan. However he delivered over and above, the tour lasting an hour longer and including stops additional to the itinerary. Value for money!

Milan Half-Day Sightseeing Tour with da Vinci's 'The Last Supper'
Roberta was extremely knowledgeable. This tour is pretty comprehensive and it covers all the popular spots. Highly suggest booking as they have the access for skip the line and tickets purchased ahead of time as to secure entrances to the Duomo and The Last Supper.

Massimo was a great tour leader and had much to say about his city of Milan. His insight made the sites we saw more interesting.

How To Get There

The Basilica di Santa Maria delle Grazie is located on the western outskirts of central Milan between metro stations Cadorna Triennale and Conciliazione. It's a 15-minute walk or a quick taxi ride from the Duomo, but you can also choose a tour that provides round-trip transportation from your Milan hotel.

When to Get There

The Last Supper is accessible Tuesday to Sunday, year-round, between roughly 8am and 7pm. There are always travelers waiting their turn to see this hard-to-visit Renaissance masterpiece. Plan ahead to secure your ticket, and consider booking skip-the-line entry to walk in ahead of the long queues.

Da Vinci's Milan

Often considered the city of Da Vinci—and his adopted hometown—Milan is home to many of the polymath's most famous works, including The Last Supper. After admiring said painting, head to the Ippodromo di Milano to admire a horse sculpture modeled on Da Vinci's drawings; then, visit the Ambrosiana Gallery where you can marvel over his Codex Atlanticus, as well as pieces by Caravaggio and Raphael.
