Ella Rock Hiking Tour
4
If you love living green, then Ella is obviously a place to visit. Ella Rock is one of the place which proves it.
Trekkers would love the place. It’s bit tiring to do the hiking. But it is definitely worth it. Once you got to the summit you will realize why we said so. The panoramic views it provides with mist and cloud covering the area, especially in the early mornings and the late evenings are something you should witness and that would suffice enough to say that you visited Ella.
Total time for climbing up and down is 4 hours. Yes, sounds like a long journey. But the way up there is with full of diversity. If you are starting form Ella train station, you would enjoy the rail walk, and soon as you started climbing up, you will be passing a waterfall, the rubber tree forest and tea plantations.
On a rainy day, it can be slippery, so better be cautious with what you wear for the journey. Wear something suitable for a hiking and towards the end of the hike,.still manageable.

Diyaluma Falls is 220 m (720 ft) high and the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 361st highest waterfall in the world. It is situated 6 km(3.7 mi) away from Koslanda in Badulla District on Colombo-Badulla highway. The Falls are formed by Punagala Oya, a tributary of Kuda Oya which in turn, is a tributary of Kirindi Oya.In Sinhalese, Diyaluma or Diya Haluma means "rapid flow of water" or may be translated as "liquid light". According to Sri Lankan historian, Dr. R. L. Brohier, Diyaluma is the setting of the folklore about a tragedy involving a young chieftain who had been banished to the highlands and the attempt by his betrothed to join. As all the passes were guarded the young man let down a rope of twisted creepers over the escarpment, as she was hauled up she was dashed against the rocks and died. The Gods, moved to pity by the harrowing spectacle, caused a stream of water to gush from the mountain and veil all evidence of the tragedy in a watery light, hence the term Diyaluma

Udawalawe National Park Full-Day Safari from Ella
The Udawalawe National park is the best place to see wild elephant roaming around in a natural habitat, not to mention Udawalawe National park is the most beautiful national park in Sri Lanka because of the soaring highlands and its majestic Udawalawwe reservoir surrounded by marshes, greenish grasslands and forests, that makes a habitat not only for wild elephants but birds and many other animals including Reptiles and Mamals. Since Udawalawe is a small park, precisely; covering 308 square km / 119 square miles, half-day safari is adequate, unless you are a hardcore animal lover, particularly elephants. Apart from, breathtakingly beautiful landscape, you will definitely spot Wild elephant in their natural habitat, and many other animals, if you saw Lepords you can consider yourself lucky. Park is close to Elephant transit home at Udawalawe, therefor you can visit the Elephant transit home as well. Most importantly park is less crowded, tourist numbers remain low throughout the year.
