This ia a very good trip. Lots to see and remember. Due to the COVID-19, some of the Placer remain closes as May 2021. I hope we can return to some kind of normalcy soon.

Every place we visited was very interesting. I wish they had stopped at more historic churches and given us a bit more free time.

Antonio was the guide for our group and he was fantastic - he is a native Oaxacan, and he was a wealth of knowledge about every place we visited. A few things to note: due to COVID the Tule tree area is closed, so tour vans can only drive past it. Parts of Mitla are restricted, and the usual enormous market in Tlacolula is not taking place. We went to a bustling and fascinating food market in Tlacolula instead. I would love to come back to Oaxaca and do this tour again after COVID goes away!

Mitla Guided Tour Half Day
Wow! This was a great tour! We went to some caves hidden on the side of the archeological site Mitla! There were petroglyphs in some of the caves! The trek up to the caves made for spectacular views from the mountain! Then we went to visit a local family who makes amazing carpets and other items using a traditional method of weaving using a moving board! We even tried and saw the process of homemade Oaxacan chocolate! Then we went to a Mezcal distillery! Where we saw the way mezcal was made and tried some of the different types! Overall an amazing experience! Highly recommend it!

Private Family Tour including Mitla, Mezcal Factory and Natural Colored Rugs
Our guide, Alex, was very flexible and responsive to our preferences. We wanted the grand tour of Mitla and got it. Alex was well informed about history and culture, not just a prepared script. We chose to go to Hierve el Agua which was a nice drive but would give high recommendation. Alex selected a lovely family textile shop in Teotitlan del Valle. And we even did a quick tour learning how to make me cal. A very full, excellent day.

Mitla , Artesany and Mezcal Tour Private
We had a great trip - first we visit a pottery - the one that for many is the mother of making this black pottery started here and it is now her family that runs the business. Sadly, no production at this time but it was clearly another quality then we have seen in the city. Second, we visit a textile artist (learned about making colours, spin the wool, making rugs and much more). The one we visit is a famous guy and he knew a lot and loved sharing. After that we visit first a Mezcal production that was of a good size that could show us every step of the prodution. Very interesting. Last, we visit a tiny family run production that was not producing anything just now, but the owner told us so much about producing mezcal and was very charming. The guide and the driver (two persons) made it a fun and interesting trip and as we had a full day with them, we got around many topics. We are very happy we decided on this tour specific and will recommend it to everyone. Thanks to both for making a great day!!!

Full-Day El Tule, Mitla & Hierve el Agua Tour from Oaxaca
This was a great way to explore a few of the towns and sites near Oaxaca in a short amount of time. Our guide and driver David and Roberto were prompt and friendly - they explained all the sites we visited but also gave us time to explore on our own. We were even able to tailor the day somewhat since we were the only group on the tour. It felt like a good amount of time at each stop, and it was very interesting and enjoyable to learn about the towns and communities we visited. Great day!

This is an amazing tour. Our guide Moises was friendly, helpful and incredibly knowledgeable. Every stop was delightful. Nelson Perez’ workshop tour was over the top. If you have any knowledge or experience with textile art, you will want to stay there all day! My friend wants to apprentice with him. The Mezcal tasting was a little “meh” as the staff was pushy, asking for tips even before we started. The village and ruins of Mitla was great. While smaller than Monte Albán, you can access more of it. The market there was generally cheaper than in the city of Oaxaca. At the candle making workshop, our guide was truly darling and she let us play with the wax and molds as long as we wished. Their products are unique and we got severa to take home as gifts. A couple of important things you should know before you go: the climb to the caves is STRENUOUS! There is an elevation gain of at least 1,000 feet in about a mile. The trail has tight switchbacks of very steep rock stairs with few hand rails. The flat stretches are covered with tiny rocks and a slip would be truly disastrous. The caves are amazing, though, and give a glimpse into life 10,000 years ago. Boots would be ideal, but we did okay in regular athletic shoes. The other thing is that if your Mezcal tour is at the “El ReyDe Matatlán”, the bathroom charges $4 pesos to get in and when we finally got in, it was dirty with very little paper inside. That part of the tour was the only disappointment and compared to the magic of everything else, it doesn’t matter.
