The Basics

One of Quebec City’s highlights, Montmorency Falls Park (Parc de la Chute-Montmorency) is often visited on city sightseeing tours and dedicated bike tours. For a close-up view of the waterfall, you can climb the 487-step mountainside staircase or take the fee-based cable car to the top.

Once there, cross a suspended bridge over the crest of the falls to access both sides of the park. In summer, adventurous travelers can go ziplining over Montmorency Falls or try out the park's via ferrata circuits, while winter travelers can take part in snowshoeing and ice climbing.

Parc de la Chute-Montmorency Admission with Cable Car
Beautiful park! I think the grounds were prettier than the falls. Very clean. They look like they are installing great new boardwalks and amenities. Worth the day trip out of the city for a little something different. Nice views of Isle de Orleans too.

Quebec city & Montmorency Falls 1 Day Tour
The tour guide was really nice but things got delayed due to a bunch of teenagers who came back late. The bus is clean and reasonably comfortable. Be prepared to visit the restroom before and after boarding the bus. Overall a decent experience.

Quebec city & Montmorency Falls 1 Day Tour
The trip was well organized, we had plenty of time for each activity and had a lot of free time at the old Quebec. Our tour guide Jean and driver Peter was charismatic and professional. It's the perfect method to go to Quebec city from Montreal. The bus was clean and comfy.

Half-Day Trip to Montmorency Falls and Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré from Quebec city
Visiting Ste. Anne de Beaupre was the reason for booking this tour. However, I was very disappointed that the tour arrived after the gift shop was closed- not as the tour bus guide promised.

Bike Tour to Montmorency Falls from Quebec City
We had the best tour guide in Deanne. She was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Great exercise and views. Prepare for alot of exercise and climbing. Bring snacks. None are provided. An improvement would be allowing a snack at the Montmorency mansion. It was beautiful there. Prepare for a 50km round trip and continuous movement for 4hrs.

Quebec city & Montmorency Falls 1 Day Tour
We had a wonderful time. We absolutely loved visiting the old Quebec; the AML cruise, St Anne s Cathedral and Falls were absolutely enchanting. Our tour guide Cynthia was the sweetest and our bus driver was very efficient; we got back to Montreal 1/2 hour before our scheduled time. We truly had an amazing time. Great experience!

Bike Tour to Montmorency Falls from Quebec City
Pierre was knowledgeable and personable. The bike ride was always on bike paths and pretty flat. The falls were impressive, as you might expect, and there was plenty of time there to take a break, souvenir shop, even a collection of beekeeper's hives. I am a pretty non-athletic senior so I was grateful for the e-bike on the way back as we had pretty stiff headwinds.

Half-Day Trip to Montmorency Falls and Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré from Quebec city
The Falls, the Church and the artist’s atelier were excellent. At the Chocolate store I expected a tour/demo experience of chocolate making. We were dropped off for about 30 minutes and expected to buy chocolate and ice cream. Waste of time for me. The island itself where chocolate store was located was lovely.

Great trip. Would have liked more time built into the schedule for the falls. Did not have enough time to ride the tram.

When to Get There

Montmorency Falls is a year-round attraction. Ziplining is offered from May to October, and if you’re visiting in July or August, you can try out the via ferrata circuits or catch the international fireworks competition that takes place at the park. In winter, the cable car still runs and the falls gain the famous "Sugarloaf," an impressive mound of ice that forms at the foot of the falls and sometimes reaches up to 98 feet (30 meters) tall.
