The Basics

While the Shrine of Saint-Anne-de-Beaupré serves as a pilgrimage site, it also attracts sightseers. Visitors come to admire the elaborate construction and its artful stained glass windows, mosaics, and sculptures. The basilica also contains relics (specifically bone fragments) said to belong to St. Anne, the mother of the Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus Christ.

Most visitors come here as part of organized day tours from Quebec City. Day tours typically include transportation to and from Old Quebec, and make stops at other locations on the outskirts of the city such as Montmorency Falls and Orleans Island (Ile d’Orléans) in the St. Lawrence River.

Enjo the falls
We really enjoyed this tour. Jen was a very knowledgeable and accommodating driver/guide. The falls were impressive to see. The copper tour was also good. The short drive around the island was enjoyable.

Half-Day Trip to Montmorency Falls and Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré from Quebec city
The entire trip was wonderful. Other reviews doubted the value of the chocolate shop stop and the copper atelier. Got wonderful chocolates. The copper store/ workshop was fascinating. Could have used more time at the Falls for those that wanted to take the cable car. We were told by our guide, Marcel, that there wouldn’t be time for that. I suggest cutting time from the Basilica and adding to the Falls. Lovely, personable guide.

Our tour guide was great. Very informative. Felt we didn't have enough time at the falls. The chocolate place we personally could have done without.

The falls, church and copper art stop are worth the trip. The commercial detour for ice cream and chocolate is not needed and adds little to the tour.

Great review and Jean was a great tour guide. He has been doing this for over 30 years and really adds a great perspective and additional information. He also has a great sense of humor. The best highlight was the Ste-Anne-de-Beaupre. Amazing architecture. You can sense the reverence of the place.

The Falls were mesmerizing. The cathedral was very beautiful. Overall, a very satisfying tour. People have mentioned that maybe the chocolaterie and the copper factory could have been skipped but I felt they added to the experience. The tour guide was very friendly and informative

Jean was a great guide and very knowledgeable. Stops at the chocolate shop and waterfalls were great. However, the church closed early due to an order from the diocese and we were unable to go inside. All in all it was great trip.

We loved the falls. I would recommend more time at that spot. The church was really interesting. I would of liked an expert at the church to give some of its history. The island was adorable…. Chocolate was overpriced.

The Basilica was absolutely incredible. Massive! One of the most ornate churches I have ever been in. Gorgeous mosaics. The waterfall is pretty especially when the lights are shining on it. We enjoyed the copper museum as well. Not impressed with the chocolate from the shop, but I guess it is off season.
