The Basics

The Pantheon is free to visit and open every day. Visitors shouldn’t miss the experience of passing through the vast bronze doors and standing under the center of the dome, where light (and sometimes rain) shines down into the open interior. You can learn about the building’s history and architectural design with an expert, local guide on a small-group or private guided tour. Many other tour options, lasting three to four hours, combine a visit to the Pantheon with skip-the-line entry to the Colosseum or other popular Roman highlights such as the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, and the Roman Forum.

Pantheon Guided Tour
Jessica delivered a fantastic tour. She has a great memory for names and dates enabling her to contextualize the creation of the 2000 year old Pantheon, its surroundings and its symbolism for ancient Rome and then successive popes and Christian culture. She brought the whole subject to life with huge enthusiasm and passion for the subject.

PANTHEON: its history, its function, its wonder. With archaeologist
This tour was worth it! Our tour guide Olga was not only extremely knowledgeable but very passionate about the Pantheon and the history of Rome. She even took time to show us a few churches near the Pantheon that were amazing. We would have never seen them without her! Olga gave us so much information, was very friendly and warm. Ask for Olga!

Pantheon and Santa Maria Sopra Minerva Guided Tour in Rome
Our guide, Giovanna, was so nice and patient with our toddler! He was pitching a fit and she was so patient and tried to help us with him. She had great English and knew a ton of information. The Santa Maria was closed due to covid and she took us another beautiful church nearby (St Ignacio I think). Great experience!

Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Campo De' Fiori Market Food and Wine Tour
This tour is absolutely unique and unusual And a must to do if you are in Rome. Be ready to try lots of food and drinks. You will start in the market and that’s where your first food tasting will start. You will have 6 food/drinks stops and every place is very good and worth coming back. Our guide Maria was VERY GOOD. She was telling us all about food, traditions, history and was answering all the questions and was always very helpful and caring. Thank you for a great day!!

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Wear comfy shoes, as walking tours are among the most popular ways to see this site.

  • If you’re not prepared to sweat through the summer heat, book a bus tour or a take a cool walking night tour around Rome’s illuminated fountains and buildings.

  • Bring your appetite on a food tour of Rome’s historical center that passes the Pantheon.

  • As the Pantheon is an active religious building, flash photography and loud conversations are discouraged.

  • Don't miss the stunning Gothic interior of the Santa Maria Sopra Minerva church, just one block behind the Pantheon.

When to Get There

The Pantheon is open and popular with visitors every day. To see the building buzz with energy, attend weekend public mass, held Saturdays at 5pm and Sundays at 10:30am. Though the interior is not open at night, seeing the illuminated ancient architecture after dark is worth a visit in itself.
