The Basics

You can reach the peak of Mount Teide via cable car or intense 5-hour hike. Lots of full- and half-day tours visit Teide National Park, many of which combine some light hiking with a cable car ride. For more personalized attention, opt for a private tour.

Alternatively, book a stargazing experience to take advantage of the volcano's status as one of the best places in the world to observe the night sky. You can also book a combo tour that includes time in the provincial villages of the nearby Masca Valley.

Quad adventure to Teide on sunset
What a view! Absolutely incredible experience. You can go on solo or double quads and you ride as a group up the mountain, mostly on the road but also off road a little bit with lots of photos taken and available for purchase after. I can’t even begin to describe the view! I loved the whole thing and the team were very friendly. They provided gloves, jackets and trousers to keep us warm because it is cold as you go up the mountain and the sun sets and you are going fast on the quad.

Teide National Park Half Day Trip
Great family experience. Tour guide very good with all his stories. Keeps you entertained while on the bus trip. Kids (7)(5) were listening and interested in the stories, which helped while on the bus. Also good way to see the area while sitting back getting some local knowledge

VIP JEEP TOUR VOLCANO TEIDE DAY, Food & Drinks included!
I got picked up from hotel by my wonderful driver Osli. I was lucky enough to be the only one on the trip so had vip treatment. You can either drive yourself or be driven so I chose the latter. Osli was really knowledgeable and she took me to all the great spots. The views of the volcano are stunning and it gets cold at the top as Teide is snow covered. I got some great pics on the way. We also stopped off for a picnic on the way down. This is one of the best tours I have been on and I thoroughly recommend it. Thanks Osli you’re a star!

Mario and Tania were the perfect guides fout oir trip with a fantastic walk in the Rocas de la García. Chef Mario prepared an excellent Octopus in a typical Vanarian restaurant where we tasted goathcheese and goathmeat which were superb. Also the dessert was fine. It was a perfect day in Tenerife. Even of you do just onze excursion in Tenerife book this one and your holiday will be unforgettable.

Teide National Park Half Day Trip
A bad experience who turned into an excellent one! I was on the bus stop very early waiting for the bus to arrive. My pick up time was at 9.55am and following other people, being in another country, by mistake I went in another bus which arrived around 10.15am in the original bus stop. I arrived in a shopping centre station and literally panicked and called the company many times. Thankfully, there are still good human in these world and they came to pick me up and took me to the bus which was already far away from my location. It was AMAZING for me that they turned such an horrible experience into an amazing one! A special thanks to Tenerife ticket y excursiones and to Joaquin for driving me all the way to the bus stop and helped me to calm down with his kindness. Also I would like to thanks Guido an excellent Italian multilingual guide who made the trip interesting and relaxing!

Teide National Park Half Day Trip
One of the best experiences we had while in Tenerife. We booked it online and they picked us up from the hotel.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Most guided tours include round-trip transportation from Tenerife hotels.

  • Although the cable car is not strictly accessible for wheelchair users, some visitors find they're able to ride it with the assistance of their travel companions.

  • It's colder on Mt. Teide than on the rest of the island of Tenerife, so dress accordingly.

  • The mountain's lower station, where the cable car ride begins, has snacks, a gift shop, and public restrooms; the upper station has restrooms as well.

How to Get There

Mt. Teide sits in Parque Nacional de las Cañadas del Teide, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's possible to drive to the site, or take the bus from Puerto de la Cruz or Playa de la Americas. Both have one morning departure to the mountain and one afternoon return trip. Alternatively, visit on a guided tour with round-trip transportation included.

When to Get There

There's never a bad time to visit the park, with the average temperature in Tenerife hovering around 73°F (23°C), but be aware that it's often cooler in the park than on the rest of the island, especially at night. Summer is the busiest season at Mount Teide, while springtime visits allow for the chance to see the stunning contrast of wildflowers in bloom at the base of the mountain and snow still gracing the peak.
