Located within the Morne Seychellois National Park, Morne Blanc is quite the iconic mountain on Mahé, with its sheer cliff face. Starting above the Tea Tavern at the edge of the Tea Plantation at Sans Soucis, the plants are gradually replaced by a lush cinnamon forest with botanical specimens such as the two types of local Vacoa trees, the parasol and marron (wild). As you continue along, depending on the season, you will also come across exotic fruit trees, such as the delicious jackfruit and jamalac (rose apple) trees. Further up the trail of moss covered rocks and trees and fern-covered forest floor, endemic birds such as the Seychelles Bulbul and Sunbirds. Finally, you will emerge on the viewing platform that will reward your efforts with magnificent views of the southern and western sides of Mahé. Le Ravin de Fond Ferdinand covers an area of 150ha, with altitude range of 10 - 300m, is managed and protected by Seychelles government. It was the first area on Praslin to be bought as a Coco de Mer reserve in 1894, boasting an outstanding scenic beauty that oversees five surrounding islands, including Mahé and La Digue. It also incorporates a safe stone-built trail throughout the Reserve which extends to a distance of more than 2km. The rich biodiversity includes all six endemic palm and rare endemic flora species such as Gastonia, Diospiros Seychellarum, Aphloia seychellarum. Fauna species amongst others includes the Seychelles Black parrot and Seychelles kestrel.
