The Basics

Travelers in DC can cruise along the Potomac River on a sunset dinner cruise, water taxi, Washington monuments cruise, DC duck tour, or even a cherry blossom springtime sail. Alternatively, keep your feet on solid ground and admire the Potomac from the Mount Vernon Trail or the East and West Potomac Parks. The latter—a stop on many sightseeing tours—is home to several popular monuments, including the Jefferson Memorial and the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial.

Washington DC Sightseeing Tour with Photo Stops & Seasonal Potomac River Cruise
We were very pleased with this tour. It had the right amount of group members, bus riding, and walking. The bus was clean, comfortable, and the driver (Chris),provided cold bottled water. We stopped at all of the sites that we wanted to see. Our guide (Tyrone) was personable, knowledgable and entertaining.

Washington DC Sightseeing Tour with Photo Stops & Seasonal Potomac River Cruise
Fantastic tour. Larry (tour guide) and Chris (driver) we’re amazing. They were so nice, funny, and informative. We got to visit so many places that we probably wouldn’t have made it to on our own. It was so nice not to worry about driving and to be dropped off and picked up at all the different spots. Highly recommend!!

Had such a great experience on this particular tour. The staff was amazing, very knowledgeable and charismatic. We visited several locations while on the tour and had plenty of time to look, take pictures and ask questions. The entire tour is perfectly planned and timed out exactly as stated. I highly recommend this tour, hands down rated a 10 out of 10 in my opinion.

Great trip! We had an amazing, knowledgeable tour guide, Dwayne that made the tour 5 Stars. The buses were clean and comfortable. We were able to experience the changing of the guards, which was an awesome way to start off the tour. We were able to go to every monument, memorial, and even had a boat tour on the Potomac. I definitely recommend this tour. Booking through Viator.com was easy, quick, and seamless.

DC in a Day

Washington DC Sightseeing Tour with Photo Stops & Seasonal Potomac River Cruise
The best part of this tour was being able to see so many iconic Washington DC landmarks in a short time. Some of the sights were the US Capitol, the White House, the Washington Monument, Lincoln, Jefferson , FDR, and MLK monuments plus the WW2, Korean, Marines, Airforce, and Vietnam memorials -even a peek at Arlington Cemetery and the Pentagon. - the list goes on. It was a rainy day so the bus tour was a great way to get around without and it gave us a great introduction to the city.

Washington DC Sightseeing Tour with Photo Stops & Seasonal Potomac River Cruise
This is a great tour for first time visitors. Very enjoyable ride and tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Communication at the beginning of the trip was a little lacking. We were able to resolve the problem favorably. Plan on being at your pick up spot 30 minutes early.

When to Get There

While the Potomac River is free to enjoy throughout the year, the views are arguably at their best during the spring cherry blossom season and in autumn when colorful leaves create a picturesque frame for the monuments on the shore. Expect high temperatures and high humidity from June to August.
