Informative walk in the forest

Thank you to Antonio for a very enjoyable experience out in Redondo. We were met on time and driven to the lovely property outside of town. Antonio did a great job explaining the history of the region and the cork industry to us. We thoroughly enjoyed walking on the property with the farm dogs at our side. We chose the lunch option and was a wonderful meal at a local restaurant. We would do this again in a heart beat and highly recommend it to others.

I highly recommend this tour. As you wander through the cork forest, you see these beautiful and unique trees in their natural environment. You learn about their complexity and nature and all other aspects of the cork farm, including the other farming cultivated there, Our tour guide, Jose, was a wealth of knowledge as well as being a fun and interesting guy. You must ask for him, he was truly excellent and a huge contributing factor to this being one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal.

An excellent tour!

I am so glad we arranged to go on this cork farm walking tour! It was a very interesting experience. We signed up for the tour plus lunch. The tour was expertly conducted by Andrew, adult son of the owner of the farm. We learned a wealth of information about the specialized farming and special methods used for harvesting the bark that they use with naturally growing cork oak trees while walking through the forest of trees. At the end of our walking tour we were invited to join the last part of the 4 wheel drive tour in a vintage Land Rover to see and learn about the grape growing activities on the property. Following the excellent tour we were escorted to a 4 course lunch at O Kebom, an outstanding small restaurant in the village of Redondo, serving classic Portuguese specialty food. We highly recommend this tour while visiting Evora or the region near Redondo.

Had a fabulous few hours out with José walking round the cork forest. Hes an entertaining guide and very knowledgable on the forest, the trees, and the art of cork growing and harvesting. Would highly recommend this trip to anybody who loves the outdoors, and wants to learn a little bit about this historic Portuguese industry. Lunch was fabulous, traditional local food, and the house wine was probably some of the best weve tasted.

One of the best experiences weve had in Portugal! José showed up right on time and since we were the only two on the tour he suggested we might prefer to drive our own vehicle to the farm and restaurant, which would leave us free to do whatever we wished later. It seemed like a good idea as the farm was only 7 km from the meeting place. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk through the cork forest and learning all about how the trees are maintained, how the cork is harvested and much more. The pace was gentle and the terrain quite comfortable. People who dont wish to walk for 2 hours can opt for the Jeep ride.. It was delightful to be outdoors and hear nothing but the birds and ourselves! After the walk we followed José to the restaurant where we were introduced to the owners and treated like royalty. The food was so delicious. We honestly didnt think wed actually have chosen pigs cheeks from a menu but found the dish amazing. Dessert of regional specialities was very, very sweet. Wine and a liquor were included. The only thing we could ha e I shed for was a place to nap afterwards!

This was the best experience of our trip. Lunch in the only restaurant in a small village was excellent. All the food and drink you could possibly imagine and all so fresh. The cork farm tour was beautiful and an excellent hike. We learned all about farm operations during our 4 KM hike. I understand they will take you around via jeep if you don't want that long of hike.
