Unique beauty & experience in Greece

The Meteora tour was interesting and beautiful. Our tour guide was able to share good insights and even her personal experiences growing up in the surrounding area. It was a l I ng day of travel by train to and from, but it was one the more unique experiences in Greece we had.

Quite a hike, incredible views, knowledgeable guide

Very good tour. The train ride was comfortable. Not too many options in the food car however. The guide Maria was passionate about Meteora. The bus driver Dinos was superb too - he smilingly offered to take pictures - and the pictures were all amazing! The tour had plenty of photo stops. Very little shopping time, which was fine because there wasn’t much shopping to do anyway. The monasteries were beautiful and calming. For one of the monasteries, the climb was steep. It involved a steep hike and about 300+ steps. Very tiring, but the view from the monastery balconies was entirely worth it.

The guide spent to much time with photo ops and not enough with the monasteries the selves!

A long day to be told to hop on and off the bus to take photos! At one point we were give 30mins to view a monastery with 10mins required to buy tickets! The guide was obsessed with talking about herself, very disappointing.

A different world of its own. This place is extraordinary. It requires a bit of climbing to see some good views and spots. Train travel was long in and out of Kalabaka. The tour bus in Kalabaka was comfortable and the tour guide was good. Consider coming with some nibbles for your train journey.

Definitely worth the trek from Athens!

Our guide Kate was impressive and very informative. She’s passionate about the content of the tour and so accommodating. You’ll visit 3 monastery’s, and stop at a bunch of neat locations for photo ops. Women: wear a long skirt, an article of clothing to cover your shoulders, and comfortable walking shoes. Men: longer shorts and a t-shirt is fine. Bring lots of water!

This is a long ride but TOTALLY worth it. Meteora is amazing. Our guide Maria was really knowledgeable and funny. It makes for a long day but the train is quite nice and there is a food car where you can get sandwiches and drinks.

The tour was great. We’ll worth seeing the monasteries. But it’s high and dangerous and the train ride from Athens is long and tiring - so I would not recommend this trip for families with young children or people with mobility challenges.

A little gem of a day.

Katerina was great. The entire trip was superb. Just an FYI, they wait until late in the day (before) to send you the train ticket. So, don’t fret (as other reviewers noted). Ladies, wear dresses below the knee. Dudes too. Wear walking shoes as those steep stairs and rocks will be brutal!

We woke up a little earlier than we would normally like on vacation. But it was 100% worth it. The train ride was long but painless. We traveled through the country side. We arrived and our guide / hostess Kate and our diver were both waiting for us by a nice bus. The views were breath taking. The guide again I call her a hostess was very knowledgeable, friendly, passionate and detailed.

Great day excursion to Meteora. The monasteries are awesome, it's worth a day trip. Please keep in mind the train ride is long and there is no food or drinks available for purchase. The train cars have bathrooms.

A highly recommended trip for anyone who has 1 extra day in Athens. Maria is an exceptional guide who made the whole tour very interesting. The driver took some amazing pictures of our family. Meteroa is one of a kind and unique experience. Overall 100% worth it

Great Monstries and a great way to explore them

, Jul 2022
It was very well organised. We had chance to stop at great view points and click pictures. The guide was well versed with the history and facts of the place. The place where we stopped for Lunch was bad though. Terrible options for vegetarians. Although they showed us great restaurants in the city for our way back. The train times communicated were different from the actual train times. They differed slightly primarily because the change in schedule. Just a call out

We had a great time on the Meteora Tour. Make sure that you have cash/euros to get into the monasteries. There is also a dress code for men and women. It was a long day but totally worth it.

Final destination was good, but not getting there
Tom_K
, Jun 2022
The part of the trip which was Meteora was amazing. The guide was knowledgeable and had first hand experience. What we did not like was the train ride. We were sold first class tickets to seats that did not exist. We ended up sitting separately and in an unoccupied handicap area because there was no place to put us, and the conductor tried. Five people were restricted to a bench/folding chair.
