Palau de la Música Catalana , C/ Palau de la Música, 4-6, 08003 Barcelona, Spain

Depending on the size of the group and the traffic restrictions on the day of the tour, your tour will finish back at the office, or in Placa Catalunya, which is an easy 3-5 minute walk from the office.

Climb aboard a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle at a centrally located pickup point in Barcelona, and admire the picturesque Catalan countryside as you travel toward your fist stop, the ancient city of Girona. Listen as your guide regales you with tales dating back to Girona’s 76 BC origin, and then embark on a tour of the medieval metropolis’ rich architectural tableau.

During some leisurely free time, see the great Cathedral, founded in 1038 on the site of a former Mosque, admire the spectacular Roman walls that defended the city from attackers, or travel back in time at one of Girona’s comprehensive museums.

Return to the vehicle and then head to Pals, a small city that grew from the foreboding fortress at its center. Continue to the charming fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell, and gaze at the dramatic hillside scenery as you travel past Begur, site of ancient castle ruins.

On arrival in Calella de Palafrugell, relish the picturesque tableau of whitewashed houses and pristine sandy beaches, and set off to explore the rugged coastline. Sink your toes into the soft sands of the beach, take a dip in the refreshing waters of the ocean, or absorb the botanical beauty of the cliff top gardens at Cap Roig.

Reconvene with your guide and group at a prearranged time, and relax during the journey back to Barcelona, where your tour concludes.

Beautiful Scenery

This tour was fantastic! The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. My only complaint is that it was warm in the van bc the ac did not work very well in some areas of the van. Also we would have rather spent more time at the beach. Although Girona was charming the stay was a little long there. When we went to beach the recommended restaurant took too long with food order and cut our time short in the water. Teen age boys wanted more time in the water and so did most of the adults. Otherwise it was a great experience and well worth the adventure!

Amazing experience. The tour guide was knowledgeable and the free time was very appreciated. We were able to hear a bit about the history of the places we were in and also to do a bit of our own exploring. The beaches were also stunning but BEWARE you may burn your feet on the rocky sand. Overall it was a great tour and just a great way to get around to more cities outside of Barcelona.

Wonderful Tour of Medieval Spain

We loved seeing a large medieval town and then seeing a small medieval village. We liked that they made time for swimming in the Mediterranean and arranging lunch (at our expense) at a reasonably priced restaurant with a fantastic view of the sea. Our tour guide, Carlos was exceptionally good, sharing a lot of interesting facts about the history and culture. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Spain.

We had a great time wondering the streets of Pals. The beach at Palafrugell was beautiful and the water felt great. Sergio took us to a delicious place right on the water for lunch. The view was perfect. Our last stop in Girona was very interesting and we loved seeing some of the Game of Thrones sets. It was a great way to see several beautiful places for a short amount of time.

A little disappointed

Overall, this is a explore-on-your-own experience, without much “touring” given by the leader. The driver had a larger responsibility as the locations were well over an hour away. We were brought to the three locations and left to explore on our own with a “few suggestions”. Unfortunately, the suggestions were somewhat deficient: Beach: this was our lunch spot but none of the restaurants were open until .5-1 hour before we had to return to the bus. Thankfully we did not listen to the suggestions on where to eat and explored away from the beach to find other options open for coffee and sandwiches. Pals: We did not value this stop on the tour. It was too brief and for very little to see and experience. We would recommend removing this stop and only have two stops to allow for more time for a real lunch. Girona: As this was Sunday, there was very little open to eat and shop. We recommend not planning this tour on a Sunday or changing the timing of the tour to correspond with hours for restaurants. Because we were unable to have a proper lunch, we used much of the time looking for food.

Our tour guide was super funny and made it a point to make sure everyone in the tour felt comfortable at all times. We had a delicious group seafood lunch in Costa Brava (recommended by our tour guide) and a very refreshing swim in the Mediterranean. We recommend this tour!

Great tour with a small group - Xavier very knowledgeable and friendly. 10/10 as a tour guide! Girona was amazing as was Costa Brava! However Pals was an odd little place and a strange inclusion, the town felt very manufactured with little history. Outside of this, the tour was fantastic and well worth it!

An ok tour with too much driving

, Jul 2022
There were 19 of us in a small touring van. It was a lot of driving in between destinations. The guide was very good but I have to say the stop in a tiny town called Pals was not a good use of our time, just nothing there of interest. We should have spent more time on the water in Costa Brava. We all had lunch in Costa Brava and that took almost 2 hours. Girona was nice to see.

Hello, I am sorry you did not enjoy the tour as much as you hoped. I am very surprised to hear you did not like Pals. Most people love it here. It's a really pretty and very charming medieval town. It's full of cute little local craft shops, and tiny little cobbled streets that our customers love exploring. The time between each destination is about an hour, and we try to give you as much time as possible at each place. Two hours for lunch seems a long time, but we always suggest either enjoying a leisurely lunch right be the sae, or grabbing a sandwich and making picnic. I appreciate you wanted to spend longer at the beach, but we need give everybody some variety. Thanks anyway for the comments, Robert

Excellent day. I would highly recommend. Very professional company and experienced guide. Did a great job of understanding clients needs and keeping the tour on track. Im traveling Spain solo, and I’m very happy I picked this tour! It was nice to have a chance to chat with new people, and Steven was a very friendly and helpful tour guide, even checking in with everyone individually to help them with personalized tips for their stay! This tour had a great variety- from winding medieval streets to gorgeous beaches- and if you’re a Game of Thones fan, Girona was SO exciting! I couldn’t have possibly seen this much without the tour. This was a great decision, and I’d easily recommend it!

A wonderful day trip from Barcelona. The ancient towns were amazing. Our guide Ludovica gave us lots of history and recommended a great restaurant on the Mediterranean for lunch.

Beautiful sites yet poor timing for visits in a larger group.
Vanessa_A
, Jun 2022
Although this itinerary was very good, the experience could of been improved. We signed up for a small group and had 20 people on the tour. Which is a rather large group. Therefore the guide moved from place to place with his talk not necessarily waiting till we all gathered and much was lost on walking tour. It would of been improved also by going to Girona in the am when it was not as hot and shops were open, and costa brava in the afternoon when more restaurants were open and then a dip in the sea before going back to Barcelona.
icon Response from Host , Jul 2022
Hello, I want to thank you for sending us your review. We value every single piece of feedback we get and we always try to improve our tours where we can. First of all, I am sorry if the amount of people on the tour exceeded your expectations. Sometimes, we have customers who have missed their tour the previous day or arrive on the wrong day and we do our very best to accommodate them. This can push the total number up unexpectedly. However, we always ask out guides to spend time with every single person on the tour to give them individual attention. They certainly should have waited until all of the group were together before explaining anything. The reason we do the tour in this order is so that we easily find space in one of the beachside restaurants. If we went to Girona first, we would arrive on the coast at about 2pm and at this time of year it would be impossible to get a seat. Also by going to the coast first we have a chance to avoid the crowds. In Girona, most of the tour is done in the shade, and the shops are all usually open when we are there. Finally, the drive back to Barcelona is only about an hour, and it's a much quicker drive than from the coast. We will certainly remind the guides about waiting for the whole group, and we will look again at our timings. Thank you, Robert
