Returns to original departure point
Make your own way to a pickup point in central Barcelona and climb aboard a comfortable, air-conditioned coach destined for the medieval city of Girona. During the journey, enjoy the scenic Catalonian countryside and listen to an interesting introduction to Girona from your guide.

On arrival in the ancient city, embark on a guided walking tour of the ambient tangle of Girona’s streets; see impressive monuments like Girona Cathedral; absorb the architectural charm of the beautifully preserved Jewish quarter; and learn about the city’s rich artistic heritage.

After enjoying some relaxed free time to explore Girona independently, return to your vehicle and travel back to Barcelona to eat lunch at your own expense. Sated, continue onto Montserrat Mountain, a natural spectacle whose sculpted peaks were created by wind and rain over the years. Ascend the mountainside on a cogwheel train, and then head inside the Monastery after enjoying panoramic vistas of the surroundings.

Gaze at the revered Verge Moreneta (Black Madonna), a 12th-century Romanesque carving, and then delve deeper into the region’s history by experiencing an audiovisual exhibition and tasting typical Montserrat liquors made by the resident monks.

When your time in Montserrat concludes, relax during the journey back to central Barcelona and bid your guide farewell.
Itinerary
Stop At:
Girona
On arrival, follow your guide to the city center for a two-hour walking tour. Discover the Old Town and learn about some of the myths and legends related to the city. Stroll down la Rambla, see some of the most important plazas of Girona and explore its winding alleys. Will you recognize the construction by Eiffel near the Onyar Houses above the river? See some of the locations where the HBO hit series Game of Thrones filmed many scenes of its sixth season. Admire the exterior of the magnificent Cathedral (SPOILER ALERT!) destroyed on the TV series. Walk along a part of the city medieval walls and marvel at the amazing views of the old town. Originally built in the XIV century, the old walls were destroyed to expand the city in the XIX century. Today, due to the reconstruction of the missing parts it is possible to walk along them. Take advantage of the free time you will be given after the guided tour and visit the Cathedral on your own or grab a quick bite to eat.

Mix feelings

The tour was good. The guides were great. You can see and hear they're passionate in their job. I only have 2 negatives things. One is that we have to make an unnecessary stop to their local store in order to connect with the other tour instead of going directly to the second part of the tour. I guess it's due to cost effective operation for them. The other is a lack of security. My wife's backpack was stolen in front of the store waiting for the store to open. Not only that I heard the thieves make believe they're tourist and sits down waiting for the tourist to let their guard down to steal their belongings. Barcelona is the #1 pick pocket of the world. This would have been a lot better experience if we wouldn't have this misfortunate event.

Beautiful places... full of history. Walks were lovely and tour guides gave ample time to explore. Would recommend full day tour for both the places.

Well Organized and Fun!

I specially loved the Girona tour. It was done with references to the Game of Thrones series. It was a great day to do the tour as well because we are lucky that the Spring festival is starting. The decorations was really good but the downside was a lot of tourists are around just due to Spring Fest. Anyway, Girona tour is a must-do. Highly recommended! Regarding Monserrat tour, it was a bit off due to some technical issues on the audio but other than that it was also good. Although it felt rushed, the important sites and activities was pointed out by the guide and it's up for us to choose which activities will be manageable. I personally love the view and the story of Montserrat and me being there was already a best feeling. I need more time to explore though. The tour gives you an overview only, but best book a whole day tour instead of half.

Good with one flaw!

The tour was good overall. Nice and clean buses. Good guides, good equipment. Fairly organised. However, I thought this would be one combined tour of Girona and Montserrat. However, to my horror, in the morning we went from Barcelona to Girona and came back to Barcelona, only to leave for Montserrat in the afternoon. I thought this was a waste of time as Girona and Montserrat are close by and on way to each other. This particular thing was not also mentioned anywhere on the website while booking. If it were the case I would have not booked or only booked 1 leg of the tour if I knew. Secondly, I self Montserrat you can do on your own! As the tour only does the work of getting you there and arranging your tickets. Which of course you can do on your own!

Tour guide for Girona was rude, and not interesting. Montserrat tour guide was thankfully much better. But ultimately we did not like our experience with Julia Travels.

This was a terrific tour as our guide knew so many details about both of these sites. I am a Game of Thrones fan and our guide pointed out several areas in Girona where filming for the series took place. Montserrat is a tour unto itself as we were in awe of the beautiful monestary and the Madonna inside. This was a truly great tour and I would recommend that people go to both of these sites.

Poor tour guides who spent little time with the group as well as showed little interest. It is basically an independent tour that provides the transport. You could do better arranging transport on your own and relying on Wikipedia or a tour guide.

Excellent well informed guides for both parts of the trip - would have like a bit more time to further explore Girona eg time to explore the Cathedral interior - only really had time to hve a cup of coffee and explore a small portion of the wall - the day we went the place was swamped with children doing art work in various parts of this beautiful city so in some locations moving about was a bit difficult although seeing the art being produced in some ways added to the experience. Montserrat was awe inspiring despite the rainy weather and low cloud and enjoyed the cog train ride up.
