Meet your guide in central Barcelona and relax during the scenic journey to Montserrat.

Travel first to the Montserrat Monastery, located just outside central Barcelona. Montserrat is considered to be the cornerstone of Catalan culture, history, nature, and spirituality. Learn more about the area from your guide as you tour the atrium and the Basilica, inside of which sits the "Black Madonna." You also see the 15th-century cloister and Santa Maria square.

Continue to Oller de Mas, a 10th-century castle now home to a successful winery. Walk through the vineyards alongside your guide, and then tour the barrel room and production area to discover more about manufacturing methods.

At the end of the tour, sample fine Spanish wines, complemented by a selection of tapas with dessert. As you taste, your tour guide reveals the secrets behind the wine.

After a relaxing day of wine and sightseeing, return to Barcelona in the afternoon.

Abbey of Montserrat
As you look through the window, the sun hides behind the silhouette of Montserrat massif, outlining its contour against the sky. In between its peaks mysteries, legends and myths dwell in its rocks and caves. Your imagination plays with all the stories and folklore you have heard and seen from its heights. You have contemplated the Catalan lands extending before you; you have learnt about the centuries that have happened in it. Moors, Christians, castles, battles and noblemen. All these stories exudate from the old stones of the long-ago-fortified houses of the region. In there now, like history, vines sink their roots deep in the dry clayish soil. This, in return, contributes to the result of generations of hard work: unique wines that speak of passion, history and tradition. This whole new universe of local flavors still lingers in your mind and, before you realize, it takes you to the world of dreams on your trip back to Barcelona. What an unforgettable morning.

Montserrat Fun

Out trip to Montserrat was extremely pleasurable. Our guide Ain, was knowledgable of the Montserrat monastery and its history. The winery and tapas experience was very good, and we had a small group due the Covid 19 scare. It was like we had a private tour and tasting.

Hello James! Thank you for taking the time to write your experience :) Aina will be very glad to read how much you enjoyed your tour with her! The truth is all our guides have a special talent to share all their knowledge in a very entertaining way :) It is true that during the weeks that follow the Covid19 outbreak, we took some safety meassures such as smaller groups. But we always try to keep our groups small, they usually are of a maximum of 16 people because this way it is possible to create a friendly environment where everyone can feel comfortable :) Thank you for trusting our experiences! Best wishes, Castlexperience Team
The perfect day in Monserrat

Our tour was perfect. Jordi gave us the perfect amount of information for each part of the tour. The time allowed for each part of the tour was planned in such a way that we were not rushed but felt that each experence was complete. Our tour was combined with three other groups and we got to meet three other guides that were also well prepared, with their knowledge of all the tour stops as well as the english language.

¡Hola, John!

It looks like everything went great on your tour! Jordi will be glad to know it :) When designing our tours, there is something we never leave room for and that is boredom! Castlexperience’s tours are dynamic, easygoing and entertainging!

The guides have a special talent to explain all they know (which is quite a lot) in a funny and light way, which makes the tour and their explanations very easy to follow and understand. History can be fun, especially when there is wine involved ;)

 Thank you for stopping by!
Beautiful scenery

Great day out with our guide Dani. Montserrat is stunning and the walk to the cross is recommended (although tiring!) as the scenery is amazing. Wine tour was good too.

Hola, Paul! It looks like you thoroughly enjoyed the experience! Dani will love to know it :) During the free time in Montserrat there are many cool activities to do, and it is a good idea to ask your guide for recommendations in order to make the most out of your visit to the mountain! Hiking is a very cool thing to do, and Saint Michael’s Cross is one of our favorite hikes. The trail is not very steep, but yes, it is a bit tiring. Although the views are absolutely worth it, right? After some time wandering around the mountain, sampling some nice wines paired with tapas sounds like the perfect plan to recharge our batteries! Thank you so much for joining our crew :)
Pep Was a great guide! Informative, likeable, punctual, engaging. He made for a great trip.

Hi, there! Thank you for your response! It looks like you enjoyed the tour with Pep, he is an amazing tour guide, isn’t he? His passion and enthusiasm are very contagious, as well as his knowledge in local culture and gastronomy! Truth is we take good care of tours, likewise with our guides. All of them are nicely and fully prepared to make you laugh while you spend an amazing day in the mountain and in the cellar. And along the way, they will explain you interesting things about heritage and local gastronomy! They will make your trip a day to remember! Thank you for passing by!
Great day in Montserrat
, Mar 2020
We had such a lovely day in Montserrat. Our tour guide was excellent and engaging from start to finish. The tour offers a nice balance of guided time and time when you are allowed to walk around on your own. Would recommend to anyone visiting Barcelona and wanting to get out of the city.
icon Response from Host , Mar 2020
¡Hola, Rebecca! It looks like you thoroughly enjoyed the tour! We’re very happy about it :) Truth is when we design our tours, we try to offer balanced and dynamic experiences suitable for every traveler. As we know not everyone has the same interests when visiting a place, we always include some free time for every person in the group to explore the place on their own! Half day tours offer around 1-1.5 hours of free time, and full day tours about 2.5 hours. Montserrat is only one hour away from Barcelona, but thanks to the beauty and peace of the mountain, it is hard to think of having a city so close. So yes, it is a great option to spend the day away of the city but still be in touch with the local culture :) Thanks for recommending!
Breathtaking views & winery

We greatly enjoyed this tour! Montserrat was breathtaking. Max our guide was so informative. The wine tasting with tapas was better than anticipated. I would highly recommend this tour!

Hi there! :) Thank you for posting! Max will love to hear that you enjoyed the tour with us! We are very happy that you mentioned our wine tasting and tapas. We try to make our best to bring local products to you. And wine and tapas are a very distinctive feature of our culture. We take great care of our products, being all them seasonal and carefully picked to bring the best quality possible. Particularly the wine, we choose ours partners cautiously, and Oller del Mas combines the history of more than a thousand years together with the local production of grapes, and therefore, wine! We are very happy that you enjoyed the tour, thank you very much to join us!

Luis will be happy to know how much you enjoyed the tour :) Castlexperience’s tours combine beautiful places, interesting history, good food, great wine and the best guides ever to offer a relaxed, informative and funny experience away of the city! Following this combination we’ve recently started a new tour, the ‘Unknown Gaudí, Tapas & Cava Winery”. Relaxing with beautiful scenery.
, Feb 2020
We had a wonderful time on this tour. It was a great, relaxing way to spend the day in Montserrat. We were lucky based on the time of year (end of February) in that it wasn’t busy so we moved quickly through the viewing of the Black Madonna and the tour of the monastery. Because of this we actually had about 70 minutes of free time - enough to browse the art museum and do a liquor tasting (both recommended if time allows). The winery was beautiful and the cold tapas lunch was actually really good. Our tour guide Aina was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about both Montserrat and it’s history as well as the wines and wine making in the region. A great day!
icon Response from Host , Feb 2020
Hi Holly! Thank you for joining our crew! Aina wil be very happy to know how much you enjoyed her tour :) We see you chose our shortest half day tour! This tour offers around 1-1.15 hours of free time in Montserrat, not as much as full day tours, but still more than enough to explore a bit on your own. Like you did! You really made the most out of your free time in the mountain visiting the museum and tasting the liquors :) The tasting is usually the last part of the tour. After visiting the winery and the vineyards we sample 3 different wines fully produced (even bottled) at the winery. In half day tours, these tastings are paired with some light tapas made with local products. It is a great way to finish the tour right before heading back to Barcelona! Thank you so much for choosing our tours!
