Meet your guide and small group of no more than 8 people in central Bordeaux and travel by minivan into the Medoc wine region. Follow part of the scenic Route des Chateaux en-route to your first destination – a Grand Cru wine chateau in the Margaux and St Julien appellation.

Uncover the secrets of Bordeaux’s famous red wines and hear about the importance of ‘terroir’ on a guided tour of the chateau, then sample a variety of fine Cabernet Sauvignon wines during an expert-led wine tasting.

Next, expand your knowledge of French wines with a tasting experience at a family-run winery, where you’ll learn about the complex classification system of Bordeaux wines and discover the art of producing ‘Grand Cru’ wines. Depending on the day of your visit, take part in a wine blending workshop (on Wednesdays), where you’ll have chance to create your very own unique wine, or indulge in a wine and cheese tasting (on Sundays), featuring Haut-Medoc appellation wines.

With your appetite sated and a newfound appreciation of French wine, return to Bordeaux, where your tour ends back in the city center.
Itinerary
Stop At:
Margaux
Take a seat in your air-conditioned minivan at 1:50pm, then head out of the city into the Médoc vineyards to begin your 5-hour tour. Spin along the Route des Châteaux, and listen as your guide shares information about the region’s winemaking history. First, stop at a Grand Cru winery in the Margaux and St. Julien region, and taste some of the cabernet sauvignon blends for which Bordeaux is famous. As you taste the wines, learn what makes Bordeaux wine so special. Next, continue on to a family-owned winery hidden among the vineyards. Taste velvety wines from the Haut-Medoc appellation and enjoy a nice platter of local produces! When your final tasting comes to an end, return in comfort to your starting point in central Bordeaux to conclude your tour.

Very Informative and Enjoyable Tour

Afternoon tour (4 hours plus) to two Medoc chateaux within easy driving distance of Bordeuax. Small group (6), guided and driven by Jerome who was informative and humorous. Both chateaux provided tastings of different age wines and briefings from local on site staff. Recommended.
