This activity will end right where it started.
Meet your guide and small-group of no more than eight people in central Bordeaux and travel by minivan to your first destination—a Grand Cru winery in the Saint Emilion wine region. Learn the secrets of Saint Emilion’s famous red wines, the importance of ‘terroir’ and the art of producing ‘Grand Cru’ wines on a guided tour of the winery. After strolling the vineyards and peeking into the barrel room, head to the tasting room to sample a variety of fine wines.

Continue to the hilltop village of Saint-Emilion and soak up the atmosphere on a walking tour, admiring the medieval architecture, maze of cobbled lanes and spectacular views over the surrounding vineyards. In the village, stop at a local wine cellar for another tasting and perhaps sample famous varietals like Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Enjoy a tour of Grand Cru winery, with a one-of-a-kind tasting that you are only able to do on this tour—compare the château wine with three wines from elsewhere in the world to better understand the meaning of “terroir” (only from November to March).

Make one more stop before heading back to Bordeaux—at a family-run winery, where the wine tasting is paired with a selection of regional cheeses and cured meats. Finally, with your appetite sated and a newfound appreciation of French wine, return to Bordeaux, where your tour ends back in the city center.

Bordeaux
Take a seat in your air-conditioned minivan at 1:30pm or 2pm (depending on the season) in central Bordeaux, then spin out of the city toward Saint-Émilion to begin your 5-hour tour. The tour was great! The half day was enough for us - a good amount of time to learn, explore, and try some wine. Alice (I hope that’s how you spell it) was a great guide and made our experience memorable. I would recommend to anyone.

We had a most enjoyable time. The groups was small and well taken care of. Our guide Ian was entertaining and engaging, and clearly made an effort to engage everyone in the group, one of the best we’ve had . The vineyards were lovely and it was interesting to learn about the intense effort put into making each wine.
