Meet your guide and a featured chef in central Charleston for your tour. Head to the Charleston Farmers Market at Marion Square to pick out fresh ingredients alongside your chef and see where the locals hang out on Saturday mornings.

Then, take a walking tour of downtown with your guide, who shares the history and legends of Charleston’s famous historic quarter along the way. Meanwhile, the chef prepares a multi-course meal with the ingredients from the market.

After the walking tour, rejoin your chef at a downtown restaurant and enjoy your 5-course farm-to-table brunch. Complete your meal within easy walking distance of Charleston’s shopping and historic attractions.

Please note: This tour is only available on Saturdays between mid-April and mid-December.

A 19th century neighborhood steeped in lesser known Charleston history. The rise of nearby Upper King Street's restaurant scene has created a resurgence of restoration efforts on the historic homes and businesses in the last decade.

Giles was an awesome history and food guide! Chefs were awesome friendly and the meal out of the park!! we will be back for dinner for sure on our next trip!!

My Mother and I took part in this walking tour during our recent trip to Charleston for a Mother's Day get-a-way. The tour was absolutely awesome. We enjoyed our guide Hoon tremendously. He was hilarious and made the tour so fun. The food by Chef Kyle was so delicious. It was great to see the dishes he made from the foods we selected at the Farmers Market. Not only were we impressed by his creativity, we were also very excited about the taste. We highly recommend this tour.

Loved the concept of this tour and was so excited to participate only to be deeply disappointed. Our guide was truly entertaining and interesting but the rest of the tour was a complete disaster. We went to the farmers market where we selected items to be given to the chef to prepare. This process was a bit of a free for all and their was no discussion around interesting local ingredients with the chef himself. It was a simple shopping trip to the market that we could have easily done on our own. What was to come was even worse. We were led to a stark unappealing private room in a local restaurant where we were seated for lunch. Considering this was a supposed cooking experience we were expecting some sort of interaction with the chef and or in the kitchen. This was not the case. We were served a meal that was unimpressive in all respects from presentation to complexity of the dishes. It was awful. The food came out randomly. We were all basically done with our main course when a side of brussel sprouts arrived, prior to that a loaf of bread filled with mayo dip arrived, this should actually have been served as an appetizer, on top of it it was inedible. Lastly, someone from the group had chosen beets as an ingredient to be used, they came out at the very last minute after we were basically done with the meal. We were told by the chef himself that he had forgotten them but then remembered, so here they were. The chef came up during the meal and said he had gotten busy in the kitchen and made excuses for all that transpired, truly NOT a culinary professional. We were initially served chicken however, pork was added because the chicken breasts were so overcooked you could not cut it with a knife let alone chew it once cut. Please don't waste your time and money on this tour. Charleston has way too many amazing dining options to spend $75 for such terrible food, service and ambiance. For the price of the tour you can indulge in something truly spectacular elsewhere.

This tour was absolutely well worth the money. We got to visit Charleston’s amazing farmers market and pick out fresh product for our fabulous brunch prepared by Chef Nick. Chef Nick’s skill level was one of a real culinary- one of the most unique experiences I’ve had! Highly recommend.

Wonderful experience. Hoon Calhoun was an excellent guide through the farmers market and to the restaurant, with colorful stories about the history of Charleston and why it's such a culinary town. Then Chef Ross from R Kitchen astounded us with a delectable display of creativity based on the food we had selected at the farmer's market. It has been the highlight of our visit to this charming city!

This was by far the best activity/tour that I did with my parents in Charleston! Our host Hoon Calhoun was welcoming and entertaining it was fascinating to learn the low country food history and town history of Charleston interwoven together by Hoon. Our tour began with a short walk from the visitor's center to the farmer's market located at Marion Square. It was just so exciting to see all the fresh local produce and products! After everyone in our group got to pick one produce from the market to give to our chef, we had about 40 to 45 minutes to spend on our own at the farmer's market. It was so much fun to go from vendor to vendor to sample their products and ask questions directly from them. And it was hard not to buy anything and take it home with you! Afterwards, our group walked to Virginia's on King where we our chef prepared our 5-course brunch. Through the brunch, Hoon continued to share the local food history and shared some of his family's food stories as well. The chef did an impressive job incorporating all our group's pickings from the market...and we couldn't get enough! All in all, if you want to be introduced to Charleston, do it through a food tour!

So glad we included this on our recent visit to Charleston. Great value for money too! Wonderful to experience the Farmer Market with Mr. Henry 'Hoon' Calhoun, a truly charming and amusing southern gentleman. He has humorous tales and facts to share. You are then treated to the creative culinary skills of Chef Chris at the Kingdom restaurant. A really delightful experience.

This was one of the best tours we have ever experienced. Great concept, excellent food and an experience we will never forget. We met exceptional people and enjoyed great food and drink and listened to some great stories by Hoon Calhoun. We met a couple and explored Charleston with them.
