Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Arrive at the Memorial between HMS Cavalier and HMS Ocelot inside Chatham Dockyard to meet your tour guide, dressed as a midwife, and your group of fellow fans, then set off on a walking tour.

As you make your way around the dockyard and some of the exterior sets of the popular show, listen to anecdotes about the show's filming, behind-the-scenes facts, and the history of Chatham Dockyard. Snap photos of the easily recognizable streets and buildings that are used to portray the area around what's known as Poplar Dock in the show. Marvel at the modern-day dockyard's ability to portray impoverished East End London in the 1950s and 1960s.

Following the tour, ticketholders are free to explore Chatham Dockyard more on their own.

We enjoyed all of it the guide was excellent We especially liked the display at the end. The only disappointment was being given a ticket for the submarine but were then not allowed to use it

We really enjoyed the part where we could go in and take pictures with the props we will be booking again to see other parts that we didn't get to see on this tour

Not what was expected

Seeing some of the props and clothing gave a feeling of being involved with the series. As for the tour, seeing cobbles, steps and doors etc did nothing to help connect you the the Call the Midwife series. I felt you could have been anywhere other than where it was filmed.

Recollections from all the series of "Call the Midwife"

Irene our tour guide, absolutely lived the episodes of Call the Midwife as she took us round, and yes we could imagine the Poplar tenements and the new born babies behind the wooden doors which hadn't really got anything behind them. The exhibition of costumes and props was also interesting because this was what we had seen on screen.

Seeing a number of original props in a room only accessible by tour guests and guides. The tour guide was very knowledgable and easy to listen too.

Absolutely brilliant tour. Loved every minute. I’m not actually a fan of the series but went with my Mum who is. I now want to watch it. The guide was amazing. She was engaging and entertaining. Highly recommend.

What a fabulous day we had. I took my mum as we are both fans of the show. We met up with Irene (the midwife) who was so knowledgeable about call the midwife as well as the maritime centre. The tour was so well organised, i loved seeing the props which took me back to my childhood. Would definately recommend it.
