Fantastic tour!!!

Joe was an amazing tour guide!!!! We really learned a lot and I think this is the only way to see the museum!! Even if you have been there a few times - like we have been. Our only complaint was that we arrived with 10 minutes to spare to the meeting spot and the tour had already (started early) so we missed the beginning of the tour. We waited outside thinking our tour guide didn't show up. We had to make some phone calls to figure out that even though we were there 10 minutes early the tour had already started. Finally the tour guide came out to find us. That was pretty annoying.

Great tour made even greater by our knowledgeable guide!!!

Our tour guide, Amanda, is incredibly knowledgeable about world history and art history. She provided the context during which the art that we viewed was created. The details that she gave us produced a better understanding of what we were viewing. We had limited time to experience the museum. She guided us through every period and style of art which we never would have been able to do ourselves. Additionally she gave us time to walk around and enjoy other works of art that she had not discussed. I highly recommend this tour which could have been frustrating on our own but ended up to be one of the most informative and enjoyable tours that we took in Chicago!!!! Thanks to Amanda!

Not a great experience/ guide had no depth of knowledge. Too many personal opinions. She needed to polish up.

Fascinating and fast-paced

Loved having a live guide and the small group format. All of the historical context was very interesting as well. The pace was a little fast, though, without enough time to look at anything except what the guide chose to show us. If I were to do it again, I would opt for a single theme or time period (I.e. architecture, Impressionism, classical, furniture, etc). There is just so much to see!

The tour was a great over view of the collection. I have been several times but this took me to parts of the Art Institute that I hadn't visited before.

Excellent private tour of the Art Institute.

Marlin was a fantastic guide. He gives a great introductory orientation to set the tone, and he engaged the interest of my two grandson, ages thirteen and fifteen. He took us to the most important exhibits, with wonderful information and anecdotes about the works of art that the average person would never have a chance to know. . Marlin spent well over two and a half hours with us , and we were never bored. There is so much to see at the Art Institute, that would have had a hard time knowing what to see on our own and would have missed important works. This tour was worth every penny, especially as a great cultural experience for two teenagers!
