Great food tour

Our guide, Johnny/Yanni, was excellent. Did an outstanding job narrating, describing and giving some history of Crete and the people. The food we prepared was delicious. We prepared and ate the food outside. Got a little chilly by the end of the evening, but they provided a couple of jackets to those that were cold.

A MUST on the island of Crete!

Taking this cooking class is a MUST if you’re visiting the island of Crete!! It’s so much more than a cooking class - the tour guide offers a rich history of the island, of vegetation, and overall knowledge about the country! The food we made was delicious and so fun to prepare! The host family was so kind and accommodating and we had the BEST time!!! They also served us 50 year old hand made wine from their families personal collection! This is a memory we will cherish forever!!

Amazing evening Cretan cooking class!

We LOVED our experience with Yanni and the team! This was one of the most memorable parts of our 2 week stay in Greece, and offered a chance to hear about the history of Crete while partaking in prepping a delicious meal and meeting people from around the world. Would highly recommend this to anyone who has the time to do it! Keep in mind, it runs until late in the evening (we were there until around 10pm), so don't plan to be anywhere afterwards and settle in for a great time!

The best tour we had in Crete. Our guide “Giannis” was so enthusiastic and bursting with knowledge about Greece, he made the evening extraordinary! Our hosts for the cooking class were fun and welcoming as they shared their home with us. We cooked, fed the goats and sheep, tasted wines, ate a lot, and learned a lot about Greece! Exceptional tour!

This tour was above and beyond what I expected. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the food, history, and culture of the island! If you are a history buff and love to cook, this tour would be perfect for you. The instructions with the cooking were very clear and would be acceptable for almost any skill level. The food at the end tasted GREAT! The wine tasting was amazing and again we learned so much about the history and making of the wine! One of my most favorite parts of the entire experience was being able to feed the goats and check out the garden where a lot of the food came from. Met people from all over the world. 10/10 would recommend and would do again.

We loved this cooking experience! Vincent was very knowledgeable and friendly. He made us feel like he was a friend taking us out and showing us around? I would highly recommend this cooking experience? The owners of the restaurant that gave the class were great hosts and taught us so many recipes that we will bring home and cook to remember our great trip.

A Wonderful Cooking Experience with Lots of Culrual and Historical Information Thrown in
CLLJJR
, Oct 2019
Yantis (Sp?) picked us up in the historic area at 2:15 PM and drove us to a traditional family home in the mountains, with a view of White Mountain. It was a half hour trip and he gave us lots of information about Greece, now and historically, as well as explaining sights along the way. We met the wife who helped us to make stuffed vegetables and cheese pastries. While she did not speak English, she communicated very well anyway. Yanis sometimes narrated for her. We had appetizers and wine with more discussion about Greek life, with lots of opportunities to ask questions. We also saw the garden, the historic family artifacts and got a demonstration of the loom. We also saw the traditional lace and handcrafts. We ate the dinner we made, complimented with two other salads, bread and rusks. Yanis demonstrated the Greek dance. We had a grape dessert and raki. As a parting gift, they gave us each a bottle of olive oil and a jar of honey, both made on the premises. Yanis drove us back to town and we arrived maybe about 9:30 PM. This was such a rich experience and it was a major highlight of our trip. Yanis was an amazing guide. We had high expectations, but this class exceeded them all.

We had a wonderful time on the Crete cooking experience--it is cooking and so much more - culture, antiques, and wonderful people, as well as great food and wine and cooking lessons. The setting is gorgeous as well. A great experience that enhanced our knowledge of Crete.

A Real Cooking Experience!

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. We were only 5 on the tour which was so much fun. Yianni was our driver/guide and he provided much local information on Chania as we travelled into the mountains for our cooking class. Adamantia was a delight as she taught us to cook some delicious dishes, and we thank her and her husband, George, for inviting us into their home. We also tasted a few wines and had a bit of a history lesson, and then sat down to the meal we had all just cooked - we were very delighted with our cooking efforts!! There was so much to eat. Thank you also to Maria who cleaned up after us and took care of the oven. We all look forward to the recipes and cooking the dishes when we are home. A tour not to be missed!

Our group of 6 had the most amazing time with guide Yannis and our lovely hosts. We learned so much about the island, Greece, history and had an absolute blast learning to cook an authentic Greek meal. At the end of our 2 week vacation throughout Greece, we all agreed that this was a highlight. Would do it again and again!

My husband and I absolutely loved this experience! The host is so friendly and welcoming and told us all about life in Crete. We had delicious food - that we cooked ourselves! It was a small group experience; only 8 people. It was the highlight of our trip and we will absolutely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cultural experience in Chania!

Highlight of our trip!

Me and my friend decided to book a week in Chania, Crete for a week as celebration after our A levels before we start University. We wanted to get stuck into the culture a little and do something cultural. After a quick search we found exactly what we were looking for. Once in Crete, we were picked up by our driver and guide Yannis at our hotel and were driven with the rest of the guests to a small house in the mountains where our cooking class would take place. On the way, Yannis explained some interesting things about what we could see as we were driving so the journey flew by. When we got to the house, we had a tour of the garden and were given a few snacks, some water and tsikoudia (or raki) before getting stuck in with the cooking. The food we made was really delicious and very simple to make thanks to the easy-to-follow instructions. Our menu was vegetarian but no meat was needed as the flavours were amazing. We also got a tour of the house and the little museum which was very interesting, as well as a wine-tasting session. I personally don't like wine usually, however the wine we had was on another level to the cheap Tesco wine I've had in the past and it was actually quite pleasant. The owners of the house that helped with the cooking were also very friendly and gave us each our own Greek names. I share my name with an old Greek ruler, and it so happens that we were doing this cooking experience on my Greek name day which was pretty cool. Also, the other people that we shared this experience with were all very friendly and very interesting people. It was great to meet people from all different parts of the world and share our love for some good food and alcohol! Whether you're travelling alone, with friends or a partner this is a great experience that definitely shouldn't be missed.
