Qatar West Coast tour to Richard Serra Sculpture and Mushroom Rock Formation

When I had a flight change and was unable to meet for this trip, they offered me a night tour (midnight to 5am of the city) so that I would at least get a sense of the city before my next flight. Unfortunately immigration gave me a hard time (I had all the documentation needed; they kept asking me for more, until finally they told me that the PCR test I had had in Abudhabi 8 hours prior was not valid and I needed another, there, which would take 2-3 hours) and would not let me leave the airport, even though the driver was waiting for me. The fifth of the officers I spoke to said: It's night. Everything is closed. Why do you want to leave? The airport has shopping, hotels, and restaurants. Now go to the transit area. You can come back another time and stay a few days." What? I had planned a 26 hour layover on my way back to the US. I don't know if it is because I am a woman traveling alone, but the immigration people were rude, mean, and denied me access to the driver and city. Had I not had the wonderfully warm, thoughtful exchanges with the driver and organizer of this tour, I would think very badly of all of Qatar.
