Overview

Bosnia-Herzegovina’s wine country lies just north of Dubrovnik, but exploring its wineries independently is logistically difficult. This small-group tour makes it easy, starting with a mountain drive to the stone town of Trebinje. Sample goodies at the market, tour and taste wines at the 15th-century Tvrdos Monastery, and enjoy another tasting at a family-run winery and optional lunch of ‘peka’ (slow-cooked meat under bell-shaped lid) at a taverna (own expense).

Wine tasting in Srpska

Absolutely fantastic tour, super friendly, very knowledgable about the wines and a very educational day. We was picked up by car and ended up being on a private tour for the day just me and my girlfriend. Very pleased that the tour went ahead even though it was just us on that particular day. The selected places to visit are beautiful areas and the locals at the market are extremely friendly and welcoming. The monastery is within beautiful grounds and really adds to the experience. The selected wines to taste are great and we did buy a bottle of red from the family run winery! If you want to see a different side to Bosnia and Herzegovina (The Herzegovina side and Srpska Region, the Serbian part) then definitely do this tour, we almost felt as though the wine tasting was a bonus on top of seeing a different side to a beautiful country.

As a native of Bosnia Herzegovina, Mela was a wonderful guide and her pride-of-country shows. The tour was exactly as promised and a wonderful glimpse into an area we might not otherwise have visited. She has an immense knowledge of wines, so if you are an oenophile like we are you will get a lot out of this short but meaningful trip. Take the chance to see this part of the world - it is a very easy drive from Dubrovnik and a nice way to get away from the crowds and get some additional non-touristy culture. We were traveling with our teenage children and they loved it

A great wee trip! Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. First stop was at the market where the stall holders are happy for you to taste before buying or walking away and we got a huge tub of fresh figs for less than 2 -in a supermarket we'd be lucky to get half a dozen for the same price. The honey was lovely but consider carefully how you'll get it home. We sized up did I mention it was good?! then had to leave some behind for our hosts as we couldn't fit the large jars into our case as well as the wine we bought later. Onwards to the two wineries - if you're hoping to see the vines you'll be disappointed, but the tours of the wineries were interesting.. but for our guide, you'd drive right by the second winery without realising, but it has award winning wines and there was never any pressure to buy. We tasted 9 wines in all before heading for lunch. Large portions of tasty traditional food, in a quiet location prior to heading back to Dubrovnik. A super experience.

This was an amazing trip - so happy we signed up for it! It ended up being just my husband and me, so we got a private tour in the owner's personal car. We got to taste and purchase local honey at a farmer's market in our first stop and do wine tasting at our next two stops. The wine was amazing and SO reasonably priced compared to wine at home. The Bosnian lunch was to die for. All in all, this was such a relaxing, laid-back, and awesome day - probably my favorite on our two-week trip.
