An Unforgettable Moroccan Experience - A Must See!

This Viator tour was absolutely amazing. Hassan was our driver and tour guide, and he went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience as we drove from Fes to Merzouga. He was very flexible in making stops where and when we wanted, and his English is perfect. He is the real gem. The desert experience is definitely luxurious so don’t worry - it’s more like glamping. Make sure to bring and drink lots of water, and try all the local food. It’s one of a kind!

Amazing and unforgettable trip!

I had an amazing time on this trip and it was surreal. The only bad thing about it was that there was a lot of time spent in the car, but that's just the nature of the trip cause we need to go so far out to enjoy it. Our tour guide was Abd Rahman and he was amazing. He knew great little hidden spots to take us for lunch and breaks on the way there and was extremely flexible and catered to what we wanted to see. There were a lot of sights to be seen on the way and if we weren't interested, he would continue on his way to see something else if we had time. We were also lucky to have someone that was training with him, Simo Ghmari, who was great as well! They both were very helpful in every way possible and even went out with us to a bar. The Sahara night was truly unforgettable and so epic going up the dunes in camels. The camping (more like glamping) was great and the experience is something i will not forget. I would highly recommend this tour as long as you are prepared for a long time in the car. I would do this again, but maybe even a longer tour if i could.

I wanted to go from Fez to Marrakesh, and I picked this option based on the other reviews, which I found to hold up. Rather than repeat them, I'll add some comments that can't be found there. The guide, Hassan, was a gem: knowledgeable, professional, and wonderful to travel with. I can't speak highly enough of him. I also wanted to note that I'm a woman traveling alone and had a great experience. Finally, the desert is amazing and not to be missed - definitely a must-see if you're in Morocco!

Great Three Days

It was a great three day trip from Fes to Marrakech. However, I wish they would have told us to pack water and other snacks for the trip. Also, the desert is extremely cold bring sweatpants and sweaters. Finally, the hotel we stayed at was not clean and would have preferred to stay somewhere else. Despite, this I would say the trip was worth it and would participate again.

Wonderful tour and guide(s); food could have been better

My wife and I did this tour and we have a very good time. Our group was kept small with 4 people which was nice and they were both wonderful! The tour guide Mohammed was friendly, helpful and a good driver. The camel ride in the dunes and the drive through the mountains were the highlights of the trip. The time in the car is long but I believe it’s the best way to see most of the country. I only took 1 star off due to the food/restaurants being mediocre at best. Overall definitely worth booking!

I'd do it again

This was a treat. First the good: Very small group (4) and a great driver/guide. Abdul was so kind and generous with my son, treating him to an ice cream and finding fossils for him. I appreciated the information he was able to share about each of our stops and many of the areas we passed through. The lunch stops offered the best food of the trip, for sure. The dromedary trek out was great! Meeting up with folks at the desert overnight was fun as well: since our group was so small, it was nice to chat with others. The could be better: You need a scarf for the trek into the desert, and that should be in the information about "what to expect," but it's not. We lucked out that I happened to have 2 with me, otherwise I'm not sure what we'd have been able to do. The sand is no joke, and you need to be able to cover your mouth and nose if there's wind. Also, have a small overnight pack ready to go for that trek - toothbrush, sweater, maybe pjs if you're going to change, because your luggage stays at the staging area without you. Taking the time to find things and repack them into a small bag means you leave later and have less daylight time at the camp for visiting, sandboarding, exploring, etc... Buy an extra bottle of water at lunch that day - there's no water to be found at staging or out in the desert, so it's important to bring it yourself (this also should be in the "what to expect" info). The Ouarzazate hotel had some of the worst food we've had in Morocco (now having been here for nearly a month). And any beverage you have with dinner costs extra (tea, water, coffee, wine -- anything) The room had mosquitoes, and the shower flooded beyond the bathroom right into the sleeping area. There were not enough towels to manage it and actually dry ourselves off comfortably. If there were an option to go to a different hotel without fancying up the whole trip, I'd do it. There was an awkward, information-less wait at the Atlas Studios, where we paid to enter and were pointed through a doorway with zero instruction. After about 15-minutes, I went back and inquired about a guide (which was included in the entrance fee), and maybe 15-minutes later someone arrived. Then at the very end of the tour, he told us at the very end that he is a freelancer and asked for money. The awful, but no one could do anything about it: The dromedary ride back was in a sand/windstorm. It was REALLY hard, and my son was miserable. But we all survived and have a cool story to tell.

3 days was the perfect amount of time to see what Morocco had to offer between Fes, Merzouga and Marrakech. Our driver picked us up right at our riad in Fes. DidDid feel rushed and it didn't drag on too long. Lots of driving and experiencing the quirkiness of Moroccan vehicular transportation. Prepare for about 8 hours driving the first day and 5 hours each of the next two. The camel ride to and from the desert shelters was fun but not very comfortable. Great time sleeping under the stars in the Sahara. The drive though the ATL mountains was incredible and scenic, but slow. The small group of 5 made it fun and we enjoyed each other's company. Overall, would definitely recommend .This is the way to see Morocco.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience with our guide, Mohammed. He really went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and comfortable. About an hour after the start of our tour, I realized that I had left an expensive piece of camera equipment in our last riad in Fez. Mohammed overheard us talking about this and told us not to worry. He called someone in Fez and had them pick it up at the riad and bring it to one of our stops along the way. We were so grateful! Our trip was amazing. We really enjoyed the Atlas mountains and the views of the Berber villages, the market at Rissani, Todra Gorge, Unesco Kasbah, feeding monkeys and of course, the Sahara! The Sahara was the best part of the trip and if we could change anything about the trip, it would have been to spend much more time in the Sahara because we arrived at sunset and left at sunrise. Overall, we had a great time and highly recommend this trip, especially if you get Mohammed! Mohammed shared lots of interesting information with us about his culture, took lots of pictures for us, played good Moroccan music and made our trip truly enjoyable. We hope to go back and visit our new friend someday!

Our guide was absolutely amazing. He was organized, punctual, informative, flexible, articulate and always eager to tailor the trip to our individual preferences. We were the only two in Mohammed's tour so we had his undivided attention. Mohammed was always open to stopping at roadside attractions and sites and often volunteered to take pictures of us with awesome views in the background. We both love to shop and Mohammed knew the best spots for the items we were looking for and helped us to communicate with the shop owners and to negotiate fair prices. Our lunch stops were awesome and we never felt rushed. He frequently checked in with us to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying the tour. His English language skills were great and we learned a great deal about the politics, culture and history of Morocco as we drove through the beautiful country side. Mohammed is an incredible driver and we always felt safe and comfortable as he negotiated the endless, winding roads of the Atlas mountains and inched through the hoards of people packing the narrow streets Marrakech. By the end of the trip it was hard to say goodbye to Mohammed as he had become our friend and we felt so grateful for his kindness and expertise. The camel ride was great and so was the camp in the desert. But because it was early January, it was extremely cold at night so I would recommend as many layers of clothing as you can possibly manage to assemble so that you enjoy a good night's rest at the campsite. Thank you Viator and especially to you,Mohammed, for giving us such an insider's guide to Morocco's treasures and beauty! It was an unforgettable experience!

The adventure of a lifetime. Don't come to Morocco without doing this. Better yet, come to Morocco to do this tour. You'll see so much of this beautiful country. Riding a camel out to the desert to camp in a very comfortable tent with a full bed is a once in a lifetime experience. We ate great food, stayed in great places, and saw things we never would've seen. You should request Hassan as your tour guide. He's not only an amazing tour guide but just a genuinely awesome human being. He never accepted kickbacks to steer us anywhere. He never let us get hassled by vendors trying to sell us things. His only concern was our comfort and happiness. By the end my wife and I considered Hassan part of our family and it was really sad to see him go.

Without a doubt it was wonderful to see so much of the country side but it was a lot of driving very rushed. Food along the way was not great and our driver seemed to take us to odd restaurants for lunch. Also as a small group tour, we were held up by our fellow travelling companions .... the trip in the desert was wonderful and our desert hosts, kind and gracious. Sleeping in tents on beds with a delicious meal in the midst of the Sarah was truly a terrific experience. I recommend but cautiously... be ready for rushed driving and unsatisfactory meals. We stayed in a wonderful hotel in Ouarzazate with a very kind porter. I was ill and will never forget his kindness. A strong recommendation... when in Morocco don't eat the salad!

Before booking the 3 day fes to...

Before booking the 3 day fes to marrakesh trip we were thinking of renting a car and doing it on our own. After taking the trip we can say that it was a great decision to do the tour. We got picked up by Mhamed at our Riad in the Medina and he brought us to the car nice 4x4 Toyota SUV to introduce us to Hassan, a real great and gentle guy who introduced us to berber culture and made us feel very comfortable and save. After picking up another woman at her Riad, the three of us started the trip to the desert and it was great. Hassan stopped at a lot of beautiful sites. In the desert we left most of our luggage in a room for ourselves before riding to the camp with a group of 9 travellers and three berber guys. The camp was basic but felt very authentic and upon arrival we got offered mint tea while the guides started preparing a fantastic tajine. After eating we sat together at the camp site, the guides played the drums and we could walk around in the dunes, taking snowboards to go sandboarding. The stay in the desert was just amazing. Back to the hotel Hassan was already waiting for us and after taking a shower in our room and taking breakfast at the hotel terrace we continued our way to Ouarzazate. Hassan stopped whenever we wanted to, advised us on where to eat, where to buy and so on. We took a walk through the Toudra Gorge and the oldest Kasbah in morocco and enjoyed to drive through all this beautiful landscapes. After a short while it felt more like the four of us including Hassan were rather on a roadtrip than on a guided tour. We liked the Hotel in Ouarzazate as it was really green and our rooms where in a seperate small building in the garden. Only the bathrooms were quiet old and could need some reservation. Apart from that it was a cozy big room and clean. Dinner and breakfast were alright. We would absolutely recomend this trip! It was worth every dirham spent. We got so many impressions in this short time while travelling extremely relaxed with these great people Hassan and the other woman.

I would highly recommend this tour. Lots of driving but you see really interesting sights. Mostafa was our guide and he was spectacular! Really nice mix of local history, culture, insights. He made sure we were taken care of every step of the way! Absolutely the right choice!

Great tour. Lots of time in a car, but we got to see most highlights of Southern Morocco. Night in desert was amazing all around, including great breakfast at the bivouac hotel. Hotel in Ouarzazate was disappointing. No wifi in rooms, not really near anything interesting, very uncomfortable bed. Be prepared for a market tour in Rissani that leads to a carpet demonstration prices here were a bit cheaper than in other cities. Would definitely recommend if you don't mind being in car for a long time.

A wonderful private tour of the real Morocco with Mostafa. A friendly man with lots of fun facts about the country. We stopped at many different sites, and he always had an interesting fact about where we were and where we were going. The night in the desert is highly recommended - even just to see the stars, or the sunrise. The winding roads of the mountains were an exciting sight. Highly recommend.

If you travel over Moroccan old imperial cities, this is a perfect way to drive from Fez to Marrakech. On the way you can see a lot of interesting places and unforgettable desert's night lodging including camel ride. For those who travel later from Marrakech to Casablanca I recommend to take a fast train 3h 20 min, 10.

Very recommended tour! My boyfriend and I red all the reviews about desert tours and finally we chose this one and we are really happy about it! I do not give 5 points just because the hotel in Ouarzazate was wretched, I think finding a better one at the same price would be possible! Said, the driver, was professional and always helpful, the timing has always been respected and we got in time to the desert and in Marrakech as well. A lot of kilometres sitting in the car but having the chance to look at beautiful scenarios and landscapes. The night in the desert was really cold - but I expected it - the camel ride was really nice and the dinner good. I recommend this tour also to a solo girl travelling.

viel autofahren, wenig anzuschauen.
