Private Tour West Madeira

The landscape was fantastic and this West Side private tour took in all the sites from Funchal to Sao Vincent. Fishing villages and the highest peaks. Richard was a true local and a great host. We enjoyed our day and all felt we had seen so much of Madeira. Thank you Richard very much. 10/10

Had a great time! The private tour was perfect because I was able to go at my own pace and customize the trip a bit. The lunch stop was amazing! I probably ate a bit too much food, but it was soooo good. All of the sights of Madeira are beautiful. I constantly felt like I was in a postcard. Highly recommended.

This turned out to be one of the best tours of our journey. We were fortunate enough to be escorted around by the Owner of the company, Duarte and his English speaking interpreter, Osilva. We learned a lot about Funchal and areas of Portugal that one would not given that the owner was a journalist. We visited beautiful places all over the island. The guides took pictures of us ever where to send so that we could just enjoy the sites. We experienced a small family owned winery, which was amazing. We were there for the wine specially made by the owner for Veteran's Day - What a treat! I highly recommend this tour! Thank you Durate and Osiliva for being such gracious hosts and for sharing the love of your island!

We visited Funchal, Madiera while on a cruise. From the moment our ship docked and I looked out at the island, I was enthralled. Our guide met us with no problem and was VERY friendly. The first stop was at the church and memorial of the last emperor of Austrio-Hungary and is buried there in Funchal. It's the same stop as the famous toboggan ride which we did not do. And then onward. We were able to see sites from both the north side and the south side of Funchal and our guide, Ricardo was very informative. He gave us info on the history, geography, economy, etc of the region. He also was very helpful and friendly. I think our favorite stop was on the north side of the island where we saw the lava pools and the beautiful huge rocks in the water with the waves crashing down around them. It was stunning! And then the lunch. Ricardo took us to a small restaurant where many of the locals were dining (the place was booked) and the food was absolutely delicious. The concern is always getting back to the ship on time and in Funchal, the stop was a little shorter. However, Ricardo made sure that we were able to see the highlights of his beautiful island, eat a terrific lunch and be back to the ship in plenty of time. Pearl of the Atlantic Day Tours was such an easy tour company to work with and they did an excellent job of showing us a part of their world. We had an excellant day with Marco. He was both a great driver and guide, sharing with us a variety of details about his island, and various traditions/ legends, etc. He was very professional, knowledgeable, friendly and flexible in meeting our various needs - including managing the car and natural air conditioning. Would certainly recommend him and the tour.

Richard, the tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly, courteous and accommodating. It was a good selection of stops for viewing and learning about the island
