Joaquin was great!
, Sep 2021
Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Joaquin made our excursion so memorable! Lots of great facts, perfect amount of kayaking and hiking. The waterfall was a little busy with all the other companies there too, but that was to be expected. Highly recommend!

Aloha Kaitlyn, A guide can make or break a tour in any weather or group dynamic. We are very pleased and fortunate to have Joaquin join our crew of guides. He brings a true love tempered by maturity, knowledge and real professionalism to to the mix. Thanks for sharing and kind words. Will share with Joaquin. A hui hou, Micco

Our guide was Po. He sang and blew into a conch shell before asking permission to enter the river and also the waterfall thanking the gods for allowing us to be there. It was beautiful, spiritual and an Exhilarating experience. This was definitely a highlight of our vacation. PS you need to be fit in order to enjoy this hike, it is tough and we loved every minute of it.

Aloha Lauri, Pohaku brings a special magic to all the tours he guides. As you learned Pohaku within the beauty of the Wailua River shares his particular brand of Aloha. Thanks for your kinds words which I will share with Pohaku and thanks for reminding folks contemplating the tour, that there is some effort to get to the falls. Stay well and enjoy the magic of every day. A hui hou, Micco
Ok but cut short
, Aug 2021
Got out on the kayaks headed up river to find out that heavy rains the morning of caused the trip to be cut short without being able to get to the falls. So we did less than 2 hour kayak tour up and down the river. No fault of their own as it would have been dangerous to attempt but be cognizant that over half of the trip could be cancelled during the tour. However, we will be refunded for a portion of the trip so they are absolutely a fair company. A contingency plan to allow us to see a different waterfall would have been great, even if it wasn’t through a hike. All of the staff was extremely friendly as well.

Aloha Casey, Yep....when in doubt....we don't go out or at least abbreviate the tour to keep all safe and sound. At Kayak Kaua'i "safety is no accident" and having pioneered this tour 38 years ago have found the prudence of this policy. While Kaua'i does boast a myriad of waterfalls, it is not as convenient as one might think. Stay well and safe and see you back on a sunny day. A hui hou, Micco

A Perfect Way to Experience Kauai
, Aug 2021
This was a perfect experience on Kauai. Beautiful, peaceful kayak up the river and a short hike to swim in the waterfall. We had the best tour guide, Po :) We were even treated to Po’s song and conch shell ceremony at the waterfall. So glad we chose this as our first adventure on the island!

Aloha Beth, Yeah...I would have to agree, all our guides are excellent, but Pohaku is outstanding and we are so lucky have him on board sharing his aloha and love for his island that he grew up in. Thanks for sharing as do so as Pohaku does. Stay well. A hui hou, Micco
Most beautiful waterfall
, Jul 2021
Dustin knew his facts about the island and did his best to give us tips on how to have an amazing time. You will get wet on this tour so wear a bathing suit. Lunch was a delicious sandwich and a luscious cookie! He made sure the trail was taken care of from tourists and has nothing but respect for his island. Amazing and so much fun. Wear clothes and shoes that you do not mind getting muddy! All around amazing experience and Will do this tour again. Thank you Dustin!

Aloha Veronica, It's all about "malama the aina", i.e. taking care of the land. Glad to hear that Dustin is continuing to do a great job sharing, informing, while keeping everyone safe and fun. Thanks for pointers of what to bring. Looking forward to funning you in this tour and/or other tours we do. A hui hou, Micco
Great but busy
, Jul 2021
It was a fantastic hike. Our guide was very knowledgable. I would have given this 5 stars except it was so packed at the falls. Way too many people on the trail trying to squeeze by.
icon Response from Host , Jul 2021
Aloha Elena, I agree with you the State issued much too many commercial permits for this resource. That said went with my family a few years ago and was still a fun trip. Glad to hear our guide assuaged the crowd for you; that is why I go to Alaska to vacation. Food for thought. A hui hou, Micco
Awesome tour
, Jul 2021
Good walking / water shoes a must. Trail and rocks are slippery. Kayaking was smooth but you can fight wind going back making it tough.

Aloha Lisa, Thanks for letting folks how it is and anticipate what is in store. Thanks for the awesome 5 stars. Appreciated. Micco
