Little Slice of Heaven a Memorable Family Adventure

, Dec 2020
This was one of the most amazing adventures of our lives. Went with my 17 year old daughter and 12 year old son. It was work but so rewarding. I encourage this adventure if you are able but be prepared that it is a 5 to 6 hour trip of kayaking and hiking in challenging conditions. However I'm a 44 year old overweight out of shape woman so if I can handle most can!!! Go for it, you will never forget it. Our guide was wonderful and the lunch was awesome.

Aloha Robin....very cool review. Thanks for the 5 stars. No pain ....no gain...or at least a little discomfort will get you to beautiful areas; or at least it will cull the crowd. Enjoy that 12 year old...they leave the nest much too soon. Stay well and outdoors and thanks for taking the time to share. Micco

Logan was the best tour guide and he was so knowledgeable about Hawaiian history, culture, horticulture and ecolife!! The trip was amazing, very scenic, and beautiful. The kayaking on the river can be strenuous at times, especially when you hit against the wind, but perfect for a moderately experienced kayaker... another family brought some children along, and we did observe that the trip can be kind of difficult for young children as you need to cross a few rivers and hike up sometimes muddy hills in the rainforest. Some of the paths have very steep hills and it can get slippery, but if your child is very athletic and outdoorsy, and has the proper shoes with good tread, the trip should be do-able!!

Aloha Patrick, Great review! Thanks for the 5 stars and for sharing that this tour is more suitable for more active family versus the sedentary. Will let Logan know of your kind words. Stay healthy and outdoors. Thanks again. A hui hou, Micco

Amazing experience, must do!

My friends and I did this experience on our last day in Kauai and what a wonderful experience to end everything. I loved every minute of it! The waterfall was absolutely breathtaking. The tour guides were funny and informative! Don't be shy and be sure to take a walking stick before you head out. Only thing I would flag up is that this trip has multiple parts where you have to cross through water that's about knee to hip height. The guides were able to help the one party that had a younger kid with them though!

Aloha Vivian, We have had allot of rain lately which has made for more mud and challenging stream crossing...but as you discovered "breathtaking" waterfalls; all which can make it challenging for the average soul. Thanks for taking the time to share and for your 5 stars. Stay well. A hui hou, Micco

Beautiful area, as long as you bring your own food:)

The area is beautiful and the kayaking was enjoyable. The reason for my 3 stars instead of 5, is that they forgot my lunch. If this was only a one hour tour, not a big deal. But paddling up river for two miles, then hiking a mile and a half into the forest to the waterfall, you tend to get a little hungry. They should do a better job ensuring they have brought lunch for everyone.

Aloha Stephe..., Glad you enjoyed the tour in-spite of being on an empty stomach; I know I would have not been as charitable as you were in your 3 star review. As I was able to construct via your guide Jay, we had the exact amount of sandwiches but some other client switched perhaps unwittingly and grabbed a sandwich which did not correspond to their order and there was only left a roast beef. I hate roast beef and would have gone hungry as well. We are trying to contact Viator to refund you a lunch. After 36 years you would think we had experienced or thought of it all. On tours we are now taking list of name of clients and their corresponding lunches; prior to this the "honor system" has sufficed. Thanks for sharing and bringing to our attention. Good and less than complimentary reviews helps us improve. Stay well and feasting not only of the outdoors but of the palate. A hui hou, Micco

Had an awesome time. The kayak section was easy enough and full of great views. The hike felt adventurous and our Guide, Dustin, had so much knowledge and could tell us about everything we saw. The Waterfall was the icing on top and we got to swim and relax after some lunch. Would recommend to anyone looking for the best day activities in Kauai

Great well organized tour. Justin our guide was terrific. Wear hiking shoes and a walking stick is helpful. You will be crossing the River in shallow areas and there are rocks.

Best Kayak/Hike Trip
Debbie_Scotty
, Nov 2020
We had a great time kayaking and hiking with Jay’s group. He was an excellent, friendly guide and went out of his way to accommodate every kayaker and hiker! We had a few challenged hikers and Jay ran back and forth (his physical abilities are outstanding) during the hiking portion to make sure everyone was comfortable and safe. Would definitely recommend this activity while visiting Kauai. We had so much fun!
icon Response from Host , Nov 2020
Aloha Debbie, Are you saying Jay is a jock? Yes sometime group members can be challenging and our guides are ready to get you safely there and back from the waterfall. We try to balance safety with fun and glad that Jay is maintaining that tradition. Thanks for sharing. A hui hou, Micco
