Head to King Arthur’s Arena at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip to catch the medieval production of Tournament of Kings.

The show begins with a visit from the wizard Merlin, who explains that each section of the arena is a country and each country has a king. Prepare to cheer accordingly.

King Arthur gathers the rulers of Europe (that’s the audience) for an extravagant banquet and competition. Watch the battle between wizards, knights and kings while feasting (sans utensils) on a 2-course meal of slow-roasted Cornish game hen, lemon pepper roasted red potatoes, seasonal vegetables and a dinner roll —plus Apple Square for dessert. Then raise a stein and give a hearty toast to the combatants.

Tournament of Kings begins with a visit from Merlin, who explains that each section of the audience is a ‘country’ and each country has a king. Prepare to cheer for yours as the show begins. King Arthur gathers the rulers of Europe for an extravagant banquet and competition. The kings test their knightly skills while riding horses. But here’s where things get interesting: The generous hospitality of King Arthur is met with hostility when the evil wizard Mordred invades the party. The kings of Europe must unite to defeat him. Be a guest at the banquet. Feast on a hearty Cornish game hen and vegetables, plus bread and apple square for dessert. In true medieval fashion, eat using your hands; there are no forks or spoons. And don’t forget to raise your glass and give a hearty toast to the kings.

Food was terrible, but the show was worth seeing. I am a vegetarian so really nothing for me. All covered in stuff from the bird. Gave to the family next to me. The action and actors were fantastic.

This is definitely for the young, or young at heart. Unfortunately, for the hard of hearing, it was a deafening event. We barely understood a word that was said. The costumes and actors did a great job of entertaining and I especially enjoyed watching the horsemanship and the beautiful horses. If you have kids, definitely take them. Otherwise you may want to see something a little more sophisticated.

I loved it. But fair warning to guys out there, my girlfriend gave it a 4 out of 10. She said I was cheering and waving like a little boy. Well, that's the point of the show, isn't it?
