Meet your guide and small group of up to 30 people in central Valletta for a morning departure. After learning a little bit about the city, which was built by the Knights of St John in 1565 and is now a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site, set out on a walking tour of the city’s highlights.

Discover Valletta’s magnificent Baroque architecture, stopping to admire St. John’s Co-Cathedral, the Auberge de Castille, and the Church of St. Paul's Shipwreck, then visit St. George’s Square to see the opulent Grand Master’s Palace.

As you walk around the city, your guide points out the new Parliament building, the ruins of the Royal Opera House, and historic sites such as the Great Siege Monument, The Siege Bell Memorial, and Fort St. Elmo. Continue through lively Piazza Regina, then stroll around the idyllic Upper and Lower Barrakka Gardens and hear about Valletta’s role as the 2018 European Capital of Culture as you gaze down over the Grand Harbour.

We had a bit of a problem with finding our guide we were in the right place, but there were so many people around we could not see him. Anyway, once we met we really enjoyed his informative talk which was well thought out, explaining the history of Malta through the ages, and the people who made the country what the Maltese have today. The Knights of St John provided amazing wealth which they used to build and decorate the numerous beautiful buildings which our guide showed us along our walk, which was done at a reasonable pace, we stopped off half way in a lovely garden for a coffee and a comfort break. Mathew was very approachable and answered all our questions with good knowledge. For anyone who has just arrived in Valletta this tour is right. We now know where to go and have not wasted precious time getting lost.
