Departure Time

8:00 AM
Your private, full-day tour through the enchanting Provençal countryside begins with morning pickup from your central Marseille hotel. Take a seat in the comfortable minivan and relax as you set off for the short northbound journey to Aix-en-Provence. There, you’ll have time to tour at your leisure. Get some insider tips from your guide before taking off to visit Aix’s artisan markets, parks, decorated fountains and boulevards full of boutiques, cafés and eateries. Grab some lunch (own expense) before leaving town for your trip through Provence’s lavender country.

Next, journey to the Valensole Plateau, where blankets of lavender stretch over the horizon. A Latin-based word meaning ‘valley of the sun,’ Valensole combines the warm Mediterranean climate with rich earth – the perfect environment for growing lavender and almond trees. Breathe in the fragrant breeze as you snap photos and explore the quaint Valensole village. Take in the charm of this sleepy town and pop into a market or boutique to purchase a fresh bouquet of lavender or some essential oils.

Your private tour of Provence ends with a leisurely ride through the countryside back to your Marseille hotel. You’ll arrive by mid-afternoon.

The perfect day!

This tour is absolutely wonderful. The first stop was at Aix en Provence for a nice walk through the city and some light shopping or breakfast (awesome history and architecture!), followed by a stop in the adorable town of Valensole for lunch. (Service is quite slow and the few restaurants are quite crowded here, so I would almost recommend discussing with your guide to eat in Provence and just talk a walk or have dessert and shop in Valensole). Finally the lavender fields. There are so many and a lot of them are filled with people taking photos already, so iit can be overwhelming, but our sweet guide was so patient in finding us the exact field to carry out the vision I had for photos. She even took photos of my husband I in the fields for us (which turned out amazing!). She made suggestions for stops, but let’s us decide what we wanted to do; she also brought us to a wonderful little lavender farm that had almond and olive trees where we tasted lavender syrup and ice cream (highly recommend this stop)! Such a refreshing treat on a warm sunny day and a great way to end your tour. She also gave us great information about the types of lavender and the area. Overall it exceeded my expectations and I could not have been happier with the day. We felt as though our guide was a longtime friend which made it even better.
