Private Tour Layover in Panama

Dan was excellent! He was early to the airport to pick me up. Had water available which was clutch. We then entered the city. Dan began explaining the history of Panama and noted the significance of the banking industry and the influx foreign capital to the country (making it the wealthiest country in Latin America by his account). We then raced to the canal, where I was able to see a ship passing through! Dan explained the history of the canal and it’s significance to the economy. We then passed through some US neighborhoods (old military bases) before grabbing food at a local Panamanian spot. Afterwards, we ventured to the Bridge of the Americans, followed by spending a few minutes on the Amador, feeding fish and birds. Finally, Dan took me to Old Town where we visited key buildings and he explained more of the history of the city. Extremely knowledgeable guide who managed to pack a lot into 5 hours. My layover was 7.5 hours and I got back to the airport in plenty of time (granted it only took me about 20 mins to deplane and go through immigration because my checked bag kept going to the final destination). Overall, I would highly recommend this experience to anyone with about 4-5 hours to spend in Panama. Well worth the price (and I was a solo traveler so it was dang near double for me hahaha).

This tour was perfect for our long layover! We got to see three important spots of Panama! The tour guide Cesar was super cool, he took us to a coffee place, to go have lunch and explained us everything about Panama along the way! Now we want to vacation at Panama and will definitely be contacting him!

I loved seeing the old part of the city. The historical architecture is fascinating with the stories that go along with it

Esteban was a wonderful guide! He showed us so much in our short layover! He recommended a lovely place for lunch and made sure we were back at the airport in time to catch our flight.

I don’t recall our guides name, but he couldn’t have been any better. We had a great time. We’ll definitely do it again!

The tour with Dan was great and well worth while. My wife, 12 year old daughter and I had about a 10 hour layover in Panama City. We arrived very early and he was there to meet us. We saw tons of sights and got a real sense of the city and country. Dan was great. Highly recommend.

It was a phenomenal tour. The tour guide, Esteban, was on time and enthusiastic. He was accommodating to the fact that we were on a time crunch. In a couple of hours, we were able to see the historic and modern city as well as the canal. He was very knowledge about the history and culture of Panama. Specifically, he knew the best times to see boats crossing the canal. He could also clearly articulate his ideas in both English and Spanish. I would definitely recommend him to anyone wanting to go on a tour of Panama City. It was an incredible value for its fair price.

Caesar was amazing! He was there for us when we exited the airport and the transportation was impeccably clean and comfortable. He has in depth knowledge of Panamanian history and explains it in a way that keeps your interest. We were initially hesitant to sign up for the tour and are so glad we did. We will be signing up for another tour if we have another layover in Panama.

Safe Transportation (Cesar I believe) was pathetic in responding to our booking. We called, emailed and sent Whatsapp messages to confirm our booking and ask for instructions, but they hardly responded. After repeated calls they messaged back saying they were on a tour so cannot reply, but the whole day went by and they did not even have the courtesy to send us acknowledgement. Imagine traveling to a foreign country with family and your tour guide does not respond. Thankfully our booking was with Viator, and their customer support stepped in and called the operator many times themselves. They also could not get a response but atleast they assured us our booking is confirmed and gave us instructions on what to do when we arrive at Panama City airport. I am surprised to see stellar reviews about them here but our experience was really pathetic. All we needed was a warm response saying our booking is all in order and we were set, but the experience was otherwise. I give 5 stars to Viator but negative stars to Safe Transportation.

If you are looking for a layover tour in panama that hits some awesome photo stops including the panama sign this one does it. Luis was awesome, gave us some great information regarding the history of Panama. We went to panama canal, old city which has alot of souvenir & craft shops, churches, the panama sign, then he dropped us off at a fish market for lunch with a bunch of restaurants to chose from. Great tour for hitting the panama hot spots and be on your way.
