Make your way to your traditional bakery in the heart of Paris, where you'll go into the kitchens for a behind-the-scenes lesson to learn the secrets of French bread.

A Parisian baker guides you through the lesson, during which you'll make two different kinds of baguettes as well as buttery, flaky croissants. Watch as your instructor demonstrates the proper techniques for preparing and handling dough, and then try your hand at recreating what you've just seen — with help as you need it. As you watch and work, listen to your instructor's tips to glean the secrets of French baking.

The pay-off for all your hard work is in taking your own freshly-baked baguette out of the oven and tasting it while it's still warm. When the workshop is finished, you'll have a baguette to take with you for a later picnic, as well as the recipes and know-how to recreate the experience in your own kitchen at home.

Fun, informative and tasty class

The class started on time and though we went a little overtime, no one was inconvenienced. Loved the interactions with Master Baker Lavry. He engaged everyone in the class, allowed hands-on the dough with his guidance, and he just made the class so much fun. Everything translated into English and all questions were answered. Tasting everything was the cherry on the top. A great value for novice and experienced bakers alike!

My sister and I taking a holiday in Paris and this was an amazing experience! The chef was lovely as well as his family interpreter and staff. We had a blast and have never eaten such delicious bread and pastry! And took home our baguette which was wonderful on the train!!!

I enjoyed learning some of Chef Didier's secret tips for baking baguettes and croissants when I return to Washington, DC. The history of croissants was very informative. I really hope he offers other classes (macaron, etc) in the fall/winter which is when I plan to return to Paris for a long weekend.

Great Baking Class in a Working Bakery

This small class was exactly what we wanted. Didier is an enthusiastic instructor and award-winning veteran baker, and our interpreter was excellent. We worked with pastry dough, croissants, pain et chocolate, and various baguettes in his “petit” operating bakery. His explanations and demonstrations were clear and will be useful when we try the recipes at home. Didier packs a lot into the two hours and does a great job balancing explanation, demonstration, and hands on work (laminating, stretching, rolling, and “scarring” prepared doughs rather than kneading) for a fun, memorable experience.

Didier Lavry is of the few remaining true artisans of French baking left in Paris. He teaches his class with enthusiasm and humor. His love and passion for what he does is truly unparalleled. Not only does he share his secrets but also adds historical relevance to how the croissant and baguette came to France. It was fabulous for me as I understand and speak French but our translator did an amazing job! He and Didier have a synchronicity where there is no lull in the presentation. You are in for a one of a kind experience.

This experience was super fun and also very informative. If you ever wondered why French bread made in France is generally superior to other countries - you will get clues here :). This experience works great for teens also. The chef cannot speak to much English but he has a good translator to help with the event - also very good. The food tasting was delicious...
