It's a shame to rate this so low...
Erik A
, Oct 2017
It's a shame to rate this so low, because I have always wanted to visit Pompeii and we expected a much better time in hiring a guide. Our driver and everything about the pick-up and reservation went just fine - but our guide in Pompeii was one of the worst any of us have ever had. He was rude to us and others around him. He was particularly upset that there were Asians visiting - I assume because of a language barrier, but he didn't keep his hostility and opinions to himself. At one point he even stopped mid sentence while explaining something to us to shout at another tourist who he thought was being rude. He also seemed uninterested or unable to talk about Pompeii other than a rehearsed script. We found ourselves being led out of Pompeii before we even realized it, when we would gladly had spent more time ourselves walking around without him. An audio headset tour would have been better than being treated like cattle and barked at continuously to keep moving along. Very disappointing - I'd suggest just hiring someone to drive to Pompeii and doing the tour yourself.
