The trip was wonderful...

The trip was wonderful and relaxing. Josue ( ho shway) was an excellent guide- very informative and attentive to the guest’s needs. The staff on the boat to the island all superb.
Just one POV, if you have the time GO.

Pleasant company, ontime and attentive. SJO to Punta Arenas ride was a great way to see the side towns and view settings outside the city center. Boat ride a little choppy and brown waters were an eye sore (did not expect that). Staff was great throughout, May want to rethink the breakfast selection, but lunch was on spot.
Beach on the island not what is expected, more dark lake water.

Ok Trip

Did not like the breakfast sandwich, it was disgusting. The boat was older than expected and there was no wifi the entire trip until we got to the island, then that wasn’t working until the last hour there. The snorkeling was the worst I’ve done, and the island was ok. The sand was not as white as I imagined and the beach was rough and not very clear waters. Food was ok. I would go with another tour company and hope for the best but overall not my first recommendation for a Costa Rican excursion.
The staffs were so...

The staffs were so friendly. The boat ride to the island is 2 hours long, slow compare to other boats, but they make it fun by providing drinks and snacks throughout the trip. The DJ playing non-stop on the top level. Just make a note that the trip from San Jose is long and you might not get back to your hotel until 8-9pm. Our pickup at 5am (first pickup) and last to drop off at 9pm. Service is great and totally recommended this Company for this tour.

Catamaran is old and run...

Catamaran is old and run down. Too slow to reach Tortuga beach.. 2 hours too long . Breakfast Sandwich in a doggy bag was soggy with ham and cheese and sauce uneatable, Just coffee and a banana would be enough. Lunch was good and service staff great. Music entertainment also great.
FANTASTIC TIME

Whatever you’re doing stop and book this! The beach was beautiful. The boat was a party, lunch was delicious. Bring a cooler if you want, you can bring snacks and drinks on the boat as well but they offer some. All other reviews that say they had a bad time had to be the grumpiest people ever. We had an amazing time from beginning to end. Recommend bringing your own breakfast though. 1000/10.
Tortuga Island, Costa Rica

I didn’t mind the long commute. The lunch was delicious and the crew did a fantastic job of taking care of us. The breakfast was dismal. It consisted of a slice of ham, some disgusting cheese, and mayonnaise on a soggy hot dog bun. The music was entertaining at first with the 10 girls wearing sexy black bathing suits and straw hats with their names, but after an hour or so it got boring. Maybe if they had encouraged the passengers to join in and dance too, but they were too busy yelling and drawing all the attention to themselves. The island is beautiful and the water crystal clear. It would have been nice to have a little time to appreciate it.
Fun In The Island

Tortuga Island is the best destination in Costa Rica. With its white powdery sandy shores and the party that never ends it was indeed the best experience I’ve ever had. The Viator team made sure that everybody had fun and is not hungry all the time. There were foods coming out every now and then. It’s worth the buck!
Island for Great Watersport Activities

, Oct 2021
If you love the water, this tour is one to consider. The commute is about 3 hours each way and then you also get a few hours on the island to snorkel, jet ski, kayak, canoe or just relax. There are no shops or restaurants on the island so bring something to entertain yourself if you don’t plan on water activities. The water wasn’t the clearest so snorkeling was below average so I def recommend doing either the kayak or jet ski instead.

Would not ever book again
Briana_J
, Sep 2021
This ‘tour’ is literally a beach day trip. It took 4 hours to reach Tortuga island and 4 hours to get back to the Airbnb. There were water sports offered (for a fee) at the beach but nothing of interest to me (banana boat, kayak, jet ski). It rained hard so we couldn’t hike the mountains. It’s 2 hour bus ride from San Jose to the port. From there, a boat takes you to the island which is another 2 hours. They provide ‘breakfast’ which is a ham & cheese sandwich, cookies and apple. On the boat, they sell alcoholic drinks for $8 each but do not worth it. The mixers they use for the drinks are gross. The island has 0 cell service. You can buy WiFi for $3 at the souvenir shop but the more users on it, the slower it gets. Lunch was provided and was ok. The best part was the fish & iced tea. The souvenir shop is extremely over priced and no negotiating is allowed. The water was nice and clear and the sand a light Sandy brown. Remember to bring everything you would if visiting the beach, I suggest bringing your own food too as there is no food to purchase on the island. It is literally a beach with a souvenir shop and mountains. That’s it.

It's was a wonderful tour. Food was good beach was awesome and water was clear. Snorkeling and banana boat pull was fun. We had a great time
The staff and crew were excellent. Please note that this is an all day trip, more than 12 hours.

The beach has wonderful views. Bring snacks and a light breakfast. The breakfast on the tour does not suffice. The lunch however was very good.
Great day trip

We had a great experience on this day trip. Everything was on time and very clean. The staff was great, very attentive and provided information about the region and islands on the bus and on the boat.
Good experience

Finally saw the sun for the first time, skip the breakfast it’s just a ham sandwich, which I did specify that we do not eat pork, the tour guide wasn’t informed about it, lunch was good, great vibes and super friendly tour
unresponsive organizer
Jonah_M
, Jul 2021
Due to a family emergency, I had to cancel the entire trip. After trying to reach out to the trip organizer/host to ask for a refund multiple times, I did not receive any further communication and I did not receive any refund. How heartless can they be to take our money during an emergency that we couldn’t control?!

Very good time, but expect a full day. Skip ham and cheese breakfast and eat at your hotel. The Pacific Ocean and beach make it memorable...

This tour was great! Diego was my guide and he was very knowledgeable about the area. He made sure everyone understood the details of the tour and how to stay safe. The boat ride was nice too, we got to see some dolphins coming back! The island is very relaxing, I chose to hike and saw very beautiful views. Great activity to do solo!
Amazing!

When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above.
