Start the day with a border crossing into Vatican City, where you breeze past the long lines and through an exclusive partner entrance into the ornate Vatican Museums. More than 200 tour operators have “Skip the Line” entry to the Vatican, but this Official Partner Tour grants you special access through the Private Partner Entrance, which allows you to enter immediately, saving up to four hours during peak season and giving you even more time to explore the beauty of the Museums.

Once inside, you and your small group enjoy all the highlights of the Vatican with an expert guide by your side. The tour takes in a treasure trove of artistic wonders, from masterworks such as Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel frescoes and 'La Pietà' in St. Peter’s Basilica to the precious relics, paintings, and tapestries adorning the museums’ gilded galleries. Throughout the tour, your expert, English-speaking guide shares fascinating insights only a local could know.

After your Vatican tour, enjoy free time to sample some authentic Italian cuisine (own expense) before meeting your next expert guide for a tour of the historical heart of ancient Rome. Begin by skipping yet another line to enter the Colosseum immediately. Dominating the center of the Eternal City, this ancient arena puts modern stadiums to shame.

Then your tour continues to the Palatine Hill, where Rome originated in a battle between two brothers. You are then taken from the origin of ancient Rome to its hub: The Forum, that bustling marketplace where business, politics, and religion mixed. No other tour takes you so close to so much of the history, significance, and fabulous riches of Rome.

Please note: During the low season, the itinerary described operates in reverse. Tour the Colosseum and Roman Forum in the morning, followed by the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica in the afternoon.

The guides were excellent and knowledgeable and made the visits do much more than if we’d gone without them. Definitely the best way to see such historical attractions

I bought a ticket with a traveler, I received a confirmation, they took money from my account and when I arrived at the museum I was not on the guide's list and it was my last day in Rome. Be careful !!!I missed visiting.

Oscar and Lorenzo where absolutely amazing. Oscar was great at the Vatican and super informative and funny. While Lorenzo was a huge help when my wife hurt her ankle getting out of a Taxi. He insure he slowed the tour just enough so we could keep up.

Nick was an excellent Tourguide, very knowledgeable and entertaining. The tour is quite strenuous- lots of steps and hills and uneven terrain so wear good sturdy shoes and bring a bottle of water!

The grand tour

Alessandra and Gigi, respectively, provided the most wonderful tours of the Vatican and Colosseum. Their wealth of knowledge, affinity for their roman history and delightful charm made for educational and enjoyable experiences. - Karen Alessandra has a special fondness and expertise in Raphael, and Gigi is a literal font of ancient history and archaeological knowledge. They each made the past come alive, all with great humor and charming personalities. Lovely tours. - Florita Grazie mille!!!

Great day exploring the Vatican and Colosseum - No St. Peter's Basilica included due to Covid at the moment

These tours were a great way to explore the Vatican and the Colosseum in one day. Our guide at the Vatican was Maria (Teresa), who clearly had a lot of expertise on the subject and told us everything in an enthousiastic and friendly manner. After the tour we had the freedom to spend as much time in the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums as we wanted. The guide at the Colosseum was Kylie and she had a background in multiple subjects, including history and politics. She enthousiastically provided us with more insights in three hours than any other guide I've done a tour with for a similar duration. Admittedly, the amount of information could be experienced by some as too much after having done the tour of the Vatican in the morning, but she was understanding of this and overall you cannot complain about getting too much content for your money. She was also a real trooper for continuing and finishing the tour after it started pouring down during the final hour and a half of the tour (a rare occassion in Rome in August from what I understand). The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that it is not clearly indicated on this site that a visit to the St. Peter's Basilica is not included in the tour at the moment at all. We were split into two groups in the morning and from what I gathered from the explanation in the other group from afar (no explanation for this was given in our group) was that it was because COVID-19 made it impossible to keep the entrance into St. Peter's Basicila from the Vatican Museums open. We were merely told how to get to St. Peter's Basilica after the tour without any information about whether we could skip the line or not with our tickets. I ended up going there between the two tours and waiting about 70ish minutes to get in to the St. Peter's Dome/Basilica, giving me a relatively short time to explore the basilica considering the upcoming start of the Colosseum tour and the fact that I hadn't eaten anything yet. I would not recommend doing the St. Peters Basilica without skip-the-line tickets. I haven't had any negative experiences on other tours with City of Wonders before or after this tour but they should make sure to clearly indicate what is no longer included in the tour before the day of the tour (even if temporary) on all the sites on which they sell tickets, and ensure that all people who buy the tickets know how to skip the line with their tickets on their own if possible, in advance of the day itself. I would nevertheless strongly recommend doing these tours, but as long as St. Peter's Basilica is not included in the Vatican tour I would recommend doing both parts of the tour seperately on different days or alternatively making sure that you have other means to skip the line at the St. Peter's Basilica in between the end of the tour of the Vatican (ending around 12.00) and the start of the tour of the Colosseum (at 15.00).
