Departure Point

Viale Vaticano, Roma RM, Italy

At the bottom of the wide steps across the street from the entrance of the Vatican Museums. The steps are located between Caffè Vaticano and Hotel Alimandi Vaticano, on the corner of Viale Vaticano and Via Tunisi. Our City Wonders coordinators will be wearing blue City Wonders/Guideman polo shirts or jackets for easy recognition. The closest metro stop is on line A (red line): Ottaviano - Musei Vaticani. Arriving from Ottaviano - Musei Vaticani metro A station: When you step off the metro, exit the turnstiles, walk straight to the back of the station and go to the left-side exit. Once you've reached the left-side exit, go out on the side marked V.le Giulio Cesare (to your right). Leave the station and walk straight (west) down Viale Giulio Cesare (which turns into Via Candia) for 3 ½ blocks, crossing three junctions (1. Via Vespiano 2. Via Leona IV and 3. Via Santamaura) before getting to Via Tunisi, the fourth junction. Turn left down Via Tunisi and walk straight for a block. In front of you will be a set of wide steps with a handrail running down the center. Your meeting point is at the BOTTOM of these steps. In total, the walk from the metro station to the meeting point should take around 10 – 15 minutes. Arriving from St. Peter's Square: Facing St. Peter's Basilica from the center of piazza (near the obelisk), turn right (north) and exit the piazza through the columns. Follow the Vatican walls (which will always be on your left side) all the way around to the entrance of the Vatican Museums (the entrance is on the left as you go uphill on Viale Vaticano.) This walk should take around 15 – 20 minutes.

Vatican Museum tour with Sev……

Sev, our tour guide was fantastic! He is extremely knowledgeable and his presentation includes historical facts along with laughter. We were on a small-group (there were only 6 on this tour) Vatican Museum tour that began at 8:30 on 16 September 2021.

Alessandra was an amazing guide. The entire experience was wonderful! She is extremely familiar with the content of which she speaks and passes that passion on to her group. The Vatican Museum is astonishingly beautiful.

Alexandra was a great tour guide. The tour was from more of a historical/secular point of view than I was expecting, but it was not disrespectful in any way to the Church. I would be thrilled to use this tour company again and Alexandra as well.

Double the cost and guide never showed

If you enjoy paying a premium to have your time wasted book this tour. First, you can book the early 7:30 tour before the crowds arrive at the Vatican for less than half the cost. This is exactly the same tour, and includes breakfast. Want to know how I found out? The tour guide never showed up. We were left waiting outside, they never replied to messages, did not pick up their phone. And now, days later, have yet to respond. I can not recommend against booking this more strongly.

Vatican VIP Experience:

The breakfast was great. Apart from that we did not get to see any of the museum apart from a few corridors with tapestries of maps. The Sistine Chapel was just as crowded as usual so not sure how they say the crowd was less that early in the morning it wasn't. We then had to leave after the Sistine chapel as we could not go back into the museum and if we wanted to see the other parts of the attraction we had to line up outside for hours and pay again to get in! The guide was knowledgeable and her tour was good however we saw very, very little of anything in the museum. Very disappointing and I would not recommend this tour.It was also expensive.

The Vatican through different eyes ... Not to be missed

Fabulous experience to see the Vatican from behind the barriers and before the crowds. The breakfast was basic and maybe a little too long but ... the tour was worth every penny and lasted longer than we thought ... you could spend days and days and never touch half of the pieces and history covered. Dress respectfully ... it is a privilege to be there ... good shoes and water plus take in the Coppola as well ... train for it ... lots of steps and can be hot but worth it. Chad our guide was phenomenal!!!

Overpriced, false advertising

Supposedly this tour gets you into the Sistine Chapel ahead of the crowds. We were there on a different tour in May. No improvement in elbow room nor volume chatter the second time on this premium tour. The woman was an amazing guide and we had a little more space in the museum this time. Also we only had about 15 minutes in the chapel. Its agood tour if you only want to see the museum, but that was NOT why I went back to Rome. I didnt expect to be the only one in the Sistine Chapel, but the crowd was ridiculous, and they didnt keep it quiet at all. Also, a few hooligans took pictures in the holiest chapel where it is forbidden. The breakfast was okay, nothing special about the location.
