Not Great, Has Potential To Be Wonderful
Austin_P

Our experience started out very rough. The Viator advertisement said the location was IN San Gimignano, when in fact it was located 5kms outside, which meant we needed alternate transportation. We got there early due to train and cab availability and intended to sit somewhere out of the way until our start time, about 40 mins. When we arrived, one of the ladies (not Jen) greeted us with judgmental looks, and no welcome or hospitality. It was as if we were an annoyance as soon as we stepped out of the cab. We quickly realized there was no where to sit comfortably to wait, except in the shade on the gravel of the small parking lot. After about 20 minutes sitting outside on the ground in the heat, another couple arrived and went inside. We were unsure if they were for the tour, or to buy wine, but the ladies welcomed them inside. We thought maybe because they spoke Italian and we did not. We went in to see if there was a better place to wait, out of the heat. We were told because of covid there were too many people inside, and told we could go over behind wine casks. Our tour started about 10 minutes late. We were very pleased with the information and knowledge Jen shared. She also answered all of our questions. The wine and food we purchased with the tour were wonderful. I would not suggest this tour to friends how it is currently run. I would suggest a place for guests to sit/wait before and after their tour, as I know the indoor location is small and tight. Also, we would suggest some improvement with welcoming of guests. Finally, we suggest updating the tour information when members sign up. If the advertisement stays the way it is, provide a way to get to and from San Gimignano, as that is where it says it starts.
