Depart your Seville hotel by air-conditioned vehicle in the morning, and set off eastward through Andalusia’s countryside toward Cordoba.

On route, listen to the live onboard commentary about this splendid city, Europe’s largest during the 10th century with around 500,000 inhabitants, and located on the River Guadalquivir. Founded by the Romans, Cordoba was a major Moorish center between the 8th and 13th centuries, leaving it with many of the Islamic buildings that epitomize its UNESCO-listed center.

On arrival in the city, set off to explore the historical center as your guide recounts its tangled, multicultural history. Admire the Roman Bridge and Calahorra Tower, the 12th-century tower-gate, and delve into the atmospheric streets of the former Jewish Quarter, the biggest in Europe.

Hear how Cordoba’s Jewish community helped drive its prosperity during the Middle Ages, and take a look at the medieval Synagogue. Admire other landmarks including the restored, 9th-century Albolaifa water wheel on the Guadalquivir, and then visit the city's showpiece: Cordoba Mosque (Mezquita).

This celebrated example of medieval Islamic architecture dates to the 10th century, and incorporates a cathedral, built during Christian rule in the 16th century. Choose to take an audio- or self-guided tour of the mosque interior, marveling at its red-and-white archways, designed to mimic a palm grove, and its courtyard, bell tower, horseshoe-shaped mihrab (prayer niche) and more.

Then, enjoy time to explore and relax in the city independently, perhaps having lunch (own expense), shopping for souvenirs, or visiting further sights.

Finally, return to Seville, ending your trip with a hotel drop-off.

Surprise stop in Carmona. Beautiful city in the mountains. Good guide who spoke good understandable English. With understandable I mean slowly! Perfect.

Misrepresentation

We found our guide to be a great person and knowledgeable. The tour was posted as English speaking. However more of the attendees were Spanish speaking. This created a secondary experience for those that did not speak Spanish. False advertising, mainly with the guide in the cathedral.

Great tour with an excellent guide.

The key to the wonderful experience we had visiting Cordoba was our guide Peter. We had two Spanish speakers in our group, so I was afraid that we would not be able to hear the full story in English. In contrary, Peter switched from Spanish to English so quickly that we enjoyed learning some of Spanish words in the process. Plus, it gave us a sense of authenticity of Spanish experience. In Peter was preparing us for each site we were about to see, so when we were left alone in the cathedral/mosque, we had just followed the Peter's story and enjoyed the beauty of this historical monument. In the car and on the streets of the city Peter emphasized the significance of religion, wars, communities' members to the mysteries of this enchanting city. It was the most memorable trip of our Andalusia's trip.

Highly recommend taking this day trip to Cordoba from Seville. The only thing that dampened our trip was the rain - but the tour can’t do anything about that... amazing experience!

We booked and paid for this tour...

We booked and paid for this tour much before, and booked with hotel pick up/drop off. Just the day before I got an email and later a phone call giving us a new pick up time some 10 min. walk away from the hotel, and then even after we were dropped off at the same place. The bus arrived some 10 min. late, luckily it was a nice day. From then on it was a nice day overall, visiting some really fantastic places like the moskea turned chatedral. On the whole ,we would have given 5 star.
