Returns to original departure point
Greet your English speaking driver or tour leader (depending from group size) in central Palermo and climb aboard a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan destined for the sun-drenched towns of Sicily. Admire the splendid Italian countryside as you approach Erice, an isolated medieval town positioned at the peak of Mt. Erice.

Be captivated by illuminating commentary that reveals the legends surrounding Erice, and then capture photographs of panoramic Sicilian vistas as you tour the ambient tangle of Mediterranean lanes. Sample freshly baked pastry in quaint bakeries (at your own expense) before traveling onward to Segesta, another city associated with the ancient Elymian people, and opt to enter the captivating archeological site independently, at your own expense. Once within, discover the ancient ruins at your leisure, appreciating the ancient majesty of the Doric temple, a 5th-century structure that boasts panoramic vistas of the undulating valleys.

Historical knowledge enriched, return to your vehicle and relax during the scenic drive back to Palermo, where the tour concludes.

The experience was amazing, the guide extremely friendly and made me fell welcome all the time. It’s good to have this kind of experience with someone telling us all the rich history behind Sicily, the kind of thing we would never know doing the trip alone by car.

I can't say enough about this guided trip from Palermo. Our driver/guide was extremely knowledgeable and allowed us enough time to explore both locations. She also provided a name of a private driver for us in Palermo..... much, much cheaper than the white cabs. Don't hesitate to book this tour!!!!!!

Erice and Segesta are both definitely worth seeing and the transport was comfortable. However, the driver/guide we had wasn't particularly friendly or forthcoming. Although this isn't a guided tour he appeared reluctant to even answer questions we had about Sicily and the places we were visiting. As other reviews have commented about other drivers/guides just some basic info from a local really makes the difference between an ok trip and an experience and unfortunately that was lacking on this tour. He also forgot that pastries were included until after we had all made our own way to the cafes in Erice, although he did then give them to us after and offer a refund. The food at lunch was good and plentiful but note there is no tour included in the visit to the olive oil producer, just lunch.

Thank you for your review We are sorry you didn't enjoy as most of our customers did in this Tour. This is not a guided tour, but our drivers, compatible with their possibility, are gla dto share with our clients a lot of information regarding Sicily as well as let them taste the almond pastries in Erice (it was forgot but you had it immediatelly when he realized there was a misunderstanding) We hope to be able to have you again in another tour of sicily as soon as possible to have a lovely experience Vincenzo

This was a great day tour. Erice was a pretty medieval town to walk around for a couple hours and the included pastries and story behind the cafe there were both good. The lunch was delicious! And Segesta was very scenic...I didn’t realize there was also an amphitheatre there in addition to the temple, which was a bonus to see. Our driver Marco was fabulous!!! Such great commentary throughout the day!

Worth doing

Erice was the high spot, literally, of this tour. Perched on a hilltop, it's a charming walled mediaeval town with a long, climbing main street with busy shops and tempting pasticcerie. Plenty to interest the historian. Segesta has an imposing location, especially the amphitheatre high up that looks out on to the valley below. In midsummer it's a bit gruelling, even taking the shuttle bus to the top. The driver was friendly, but little in the way of explanations. Lunch on a farm near Trapani was excellent: local produce and especially tasty was the Sicilian caponata. An enjoyable tour.

Would recommend this tour. It was a great way to see a lot of areas in a short period of time. Our guide Gasperi was excellent! He was on time to pick us up and took his time explaining the sights and had a lot of connections in the area which got us great service. The weather wasn't the greatest unfortunately but he maximized our time the best he could. Great tour!!
