Wonderful experience

Wonderful experience. Our guide was amazing and had a lot of knowledge about history. Lunch was customised based on our preference that was mainly panini and Catania red wine sourced from Etna. We saw churches, local markets, sea, churches, temple ruins.

Dear Friend, Thanks for your feedback! We are happy that you loved Syracuse, Ortigia and Noto: it is a tour where you can discover both the Greek and the baroque cultures in Sicily! We appreciated also your feedback about our free snack: true Sicilian food, accompanied by Etna DOC wine 😀 For the driver, we know all of them very well, and we think that they are not frustrated. Of course, as humans, there could be some day where they are not “at the top” of their performance. Anyway, we are really sorry if you had this feeling during the driving. Moreover, Sicily and in particularity Catania, is well-known as nervous and crazy type of driving. We try to do our best, with a large van, to drive in a safe and quite way. Thank you again: we’ll use your feedback in order to improve our job and to do our best for the future customers Best Regards, Sicily Day By Day Staff

Experiences that wouldn’t have been possible without this tour

We usually don’t opt for full-day tours such as this, and we are so glad we did. Our guide, Antonio, picked us up promptly and after picking up the third pair of tourists, we were on our way to Noto. En route, he gave us background on what we’d see there, as he also did before our stops at the ancient sites in Siracusa and in Ortigia. Some of the time he guided us, pointing out details we never saw in our guidebooks. We had some free time at each stop, which was great to take in what we wanted to at our own pace. Our lunch was delicious too...sandwiches and wine. Antonio was clear about where and when to meet him at each stop. He is very knowledgeable about food, wine and the culture of the area. As a bonus, our fellow passengers were very warm and interesting, so we also got a chance to share the experience with people from Spain and Germany. We can confidently recommend this tour to those who are visiting Catania and want to spend a day visiting Siracusa and Noto.

Thoroughly enjoyed the day

Dario picked us up at our hotel and off we went - his background as a student working on his masters brought an unique perspective to the commentary . We learned about the countryside and the upcoming sites from an ecological angle, even pointing out the fossils in the rock walk before lunch as we walked to Ortygia. We loved learning about this life while we ate! I was so pleased with the passion and care he took in answering our questions . I wish the company would use a mic or a device to amplify his voice. When you sit in the last row of the van, it sometimes was difficult to hear - but he was always kind to repeat. Good choice for anyone wanting to see the ruins and then the glorious town of. Noto!

Good guide, good tour, overpriced

Antonio was a good driver and a personable man. The overall tour could’ve been a little better organized. We sat in the far back of the van, no other seat options, and I could not hear him most of the time. A microphone would have been great! Admissions to Syracuse teatro and some churches were not included, so bring extra cash. Guide could not go in sites with us, so we were left to figure it out on our own and in a time crunch. Snack and wine were nice, but we sat on a scruffy park bench by a concrete sidewalk, near the sea. Good history, nice towns, a good overview of the area, but overpriced tour.

Dear Cindy, thank you for taking the time to write us a review in order to improve our job. Thank you for the compliments regarding our driver Antonio! We are also happy you enjoyed the beautiful places you visited with us in Sicily and our street food snack and wine. However, we would like to point out something: - As you wrote, Antonio is a driver and not a touristic guide, so that is why he didn't enter with you in the sites; in our programs you can read that you will be with a driver/tour leader and not with authorized tourist guide and that tickets are not included; however, we always provide informative brochures and maps, so you can visit by yourself the sites. Moreover, our tour leaders are not simply drivers, they are passionate about Sicily and its history and we know they give a lot of informations during the drive. Unfortunately, according to the Italian law, inside the archeological sites/museums, you need to be accompained by a touristic guide, which cost is 250€ per day. - We provide a free snack with typical Sicilian street food. In this tour it is included a picnic and not a full lunch, and you can also decide to have one hour of spare time to have lunch by yourself. We are sorry you didn't enjoy the location, even though it was near the sea. We will try to improve for the nexts tours. - Thank you for the suggestions about the microphone. - We don't think it is an overpriced tour, because in the excursion it is included the transportation in a 8 seats air-conditioned minivan (all our groups are very small, therefore it it almost a private tour), a tour leader that will give you all the necessary information, informative brochures and maps, snack with typical products (wine, typical Sicilian street food or sandwiches), VAT. By the way, thank you again for all your precious advices. We appreciate them and we are glad you enjoyed anyway the trip with us and Antonio! Wishing to see you again in the future, maybe for another experience :) Best regards, Sicily Day By Day Staff

After a short slight confusion on pick up time from our hotel we were lucky to join this excellent small tour. The bus was comfortable for 7 people and our guide was informative, friendly and enthusiastic. He had good knowledge in all the stops, ensuring that he pointed out highlights and special features and stories that may be missed on a self tour. Lunch was delicious too. Thank you Luigi for a brilliant trip.

I would definitely recommend this tour. A wonderful way to spend the day, the places were beautiful and there were lots of interesting sites to see. Our guide Manuel was excellent, very informative and went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed the day even when heavy rainfall began on route to Noto.
