Overview

Designed to delight children and adults alike, this private 2-hour mask-painting workshop offers insight into an important Venetian craft. Under the guidance of a resident artist, you’ll choose a mask from more than 50 different styles and decorate it according to different techniques. While you work, your guide tells stories of traditional masks and their function in society. A minimum of four people are required for this activity.

This activity will end right where it started.
Depending on the start time specified at checkout, make your way to Ca Macana located at Dorsoduro 3172. On arrival at the workshop of the artist, you’ll receive an introduction to the tradition of Venetian masks and learn a little about their history.

Then, each participant chooses two masks from more than 50 different styles, individually inspired by fantasy, fairy tale, carnival, and other genres. Paint your mask using acrylic tempera paints of different colors, and then add finishing touches such as feathers, ribbons, and sequins.

At the end of your experience, bid your guide farewell with your creation in tow.
