St. Mark's Square , Piazza San Marco, 30124 Venezia VE, Italy
Start your walking tour of Venice in the morning or afternoon. Meet at a central location and set off with a small group limited to 15 people. Alternatively, select a private tour exclusively for you and your party. Your guide is a well-informed local who provides insight into the former maritime republic.

Stroll the pedestrianized streets to historical areas and particular districts that include Rialto, San Marco, and Cannaregio. Cross charming footbridges that connect some hundreds of small islands that comprise Venice, including the Rialto Bridge. Get a look at the surrounding area, once the financial and trade center of Venice, and walk past Marco Polo's house; where one of the world's most famous travelers was born.

See Campo Santa Margherita and the Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, where the 16th-century Italian painter Titian is buried. Upon crossing Campo San Bartolomeo see the Church of San Giovanni e Paolo, the resting place of many Venice doges, or leaders, of the city-state. See the Scuola Grande di San Rocco and finish at St. Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco).

Your guide can offer recommendations on where to eat and how to spend your free time in Venice.

Denise was a great guide....

Denise was a great guide. She was very knowledgeable, personable and shared her passion for her native city. We met an artisan mask maker, visited a gelateria, and learned how Venice was literally built on the swamps. We also learned about the function of the escuolas in the city, the old red light district, the different architectural influences, and insights into modern Venetian life (she showed us a picture of her own boat and shared some of her family history). She even had a list of suggested restaurants for us at the end of the tour. This is a fantastic tour to take at the beginning of your visit to Venice. It will give you some background that will help you better appreciate the city as you explore.

First thing you should do in Venice

This was arguably THE highlight of my Venice trip. Caroline, our guide was brilliant. She took us everywhere. Along the way told the entire history of the city. Her pacing, her stops, her charisma were fantastic. She plotted the best line to tell the story. Each stop furthered the story she was telling. I learned so much about Venice during this tour. All of the information given was important and interesting. Moreover, she took us all over the city. I felt like I knew the city so much more because of her. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone’s first trip to Venice. It will do four things for you. 1) Give you the history of the city, how it was formed, why it was formed and how it is able to work. 2) It will get you situated on how to get Venice. 3) It will show you all of the sights if you are not staying along time. 4) It will make you love the city. As someone who has been to Venice twice and who thinks Venice is overrated, this tour and Caroline turned me around a little.

Denizia was our guide and was fantastic! So fun, great stories and very informative as to the history of Venice. This was not a touristy tour but an informative walk about how Venice became what it is today. She also had a substantial list of recommended places to see and eat. We loved her and our time there!

Denise was absolutely fantastic. She is a local, so has so much information about Venice and it's history. The tour was excellent, she brought to places we would never have found ourselves and had great stories. Denise is so enthusiastic about Venice and this really enhanced the experience. The group was small so it was easy to hear her and ask questions. She answered all of our questions and didn't rush the tour at any stage. I would highly recommend this tour!

Denise was the best guide we could have in Venice! She is a Venice native and gave us a lot of context and history of the city as she took us through all the sites. She was very accommodating to our needs, even slightly altering the tour based on a couple questions we asked. She was also very patient and friendly with our kids, and answered all their questions without any problem. Thanks Denise for your hospitality!!
