Great experience

Our guide, Eddie, was very informative and fun. The palace and grounds were beautiful. It was disappointing that we could not take pictures inside the palace.

Dear Malinda, Thank you for your great feedback for the tour. We are happy to read that you were very satisfied with your tour and with your guide Edi. Of course, we will forward your nice compliments to him. He is indeed one of a kind and always knows some extra information to give. We are very sorry that you are not allowed to take photos in the Schönbrunn Palace, but these are the requirements of the palace itself to protect the historical paintings. Thank you for your understanding and we know that many tourists would like to take photos in the Schönbrunn. We hope you had a perfect stay in Vienna and we would be happy to welcome you again. Kind regards Siri

Rethink this tour!

Our guide was so long winded! I wish we had purchased a ticket at the palace, there were no lines. We could have used the self guided tour and gone at our own pace!
icon Response from Host , Sep 2021
Dear AFA, first of all many thanks for taking your time to review your experience with us. We are very sorry to hear that the Schönbrunn palace tour did not fulfill your expectations! Please note that due to Covid-19 safety precautions, only 400 to max. 500 guests are allowed to be in the showrooms (3400 square meters) within a 60 minutes time frame. This means, that groups as well as individual travelers are only able to go inside if they respect the reserved time slot. The fact that you did not see a physical line at the entrance does not mean that the palace was empty, as most visitors buy a ticket first and then have to wait for their time slot in order to enter the palace. Last weekend, for example, individual travelers had a waiting time of 180 minutes before being able to enter Schönbrunn. We are also quite sorry to hear you thought the tour was long winded. Many of our clients wish for the tour to last a bit longer or for them to spend a little extra time inside the palace. As we do need to respect the schedule of the palace, it rarely happens that our guides get to do a longer tour - however this has always been seen positively by our guests so far. We do our best to guarantee each of our customer a nice experience and we appreciate the feedback. Hope to still had a great time in Vienna! All the best, Julija

Brilliant tour guide, stunning palace

Tour guide was exceptionally qualified and very good. Tour was a bit disorganized at the start because of rude tourists being late and feeling self entitled. The palace was amazing.

Dear Devon, thank you so much for your review of our Schönbrunn Palace tour. We are happy you've enjoyed the tour with our guide and the Schönbrunn Palace. We are very sorry to hear that other guests have been rude and did not behave in a polite way. Despite our attemps to communicate with all our guests, we can't prevent some tourists from misbehaving. We kindly thank you for your understanding and your 4 star review. Kind regards Good Vienna Tours Team

Franz was an informative guide, presenting the information with a side of fun and comedy. It made for a more enjoyable tour but still filled with the history of the family. At this time of year, the Christmas market in front is a nice extra! Enjoyable, even in the cold!

Excellent overview of Austrian history!

My husband normally HATES guided tours. Well, this tour was the exception, all due to our hilarious, knowledgeable and entertaining guide, Franz. Franz was able to weave fantastically interesting tidbits into his tour of the Schonbrunn palace that kept us engrossed. We left wanting more. You will learn so much about the Hapburg dynasty, and life in Vienna under Kaiser Franz Joseph & Sisi. Fabulous! A+, Franz! Thank you!

Hello, thank you for your quite personal review. It is a pleasure to hear that we could convince your husband that guided tours can be interesting and fun as well. Schönbrunn Palace does indeed worth to visit again as it is not only one of Austrias main highlights but as it has a vast variety of interesting facts. So maybe hope to see you again on a tour with Franz Josef ;-) Kind regards

Nice typical tour

We had an excellent, knowledgeable guide lady who took time to answer any questions. We started our tour in the gardens and then entered the castle at precisely the correct time! The castle was stunning inside, but we only went through a few rooms on the first floor where Maria Theresa and family lived. I was too tired to make the trek up to the Gloriette, but they do offer small train rides. My daughter hiked back, about a half mile I think it is, and took some gorgeous pictures of the castle from there. It was your standard guided tour, but I can recommend it. Just be prepared to do a lot of walking.

Hello Gloria, Hello, thank you so much for your great review of our Schönbrunn Palace tour. It is always great to hear such lovely words of appreciation from our customers. Your interest in Austrian history is also wonderful to hear. We are also happy to forward your kind words to your tourguide, an indeed very competent and experienced guide with whom we are glad to work with. At the beginning we mention exactly which rooms are shown on the highlight tour and unfortunately they do not contain all the rooms, as there would not be time enough. But you can believe us that you see the best selected highlight ones on the tour. Because of the size of the garden, we always start by pointing out that the entire area is over 180 hectares. Therefore, one can walk pretty and stroll extensively through the garden. As mentioned you will be rewarded with a great view of the Gloriette.

Don't go on a very hot day
Patricia_C
, Sep 2019
It wasn't the fault of the guide. The day we booked our visit it was a stifling 38 degrees Celsius outside and we didn't even go inside the Palace because the guide said it was even hotter inside because no windows or doors would be opened. As we were REALLY feeling the effects of the heat, after visiting the Schonbrunn Zoo next to the Palace, it was a health/welfare decision to not go inside. It's a shame because it looked so beautiful from the outside and it was obviously too late to cancel.
icon Response from Host , Oct 2019
Hello, as mentioned it was not our guides fault. We experienced one of the hottest summer this year. Our cancellation deadline is 24 hours prior to the tour and we can't reimburse tours due to weather conditions. Thank you for the understanding. Kind regards
